That act was about as classless of act as I have seen in college football. I do commend coach Sumlin for obviously firing the idiot on the spot bc that coach did not return from the A&M locker room for the 2nd half. I will say this, if someone....AD, Coach or whoever didn't fire the man on the spot then I would be discussing that persons job that didn't if I am the president of the university.

Only other act like this and was this obvious was years and years ago when OSU Coach Woody Hayes punched a Clemson player in the same type scenario. What was so bad about that one was that it was probably at the final few years as coach for Hayes anyway, he was aging. Now, with as great and as legendary of coach as Woody was, that one incident is usually the first thing that people think of when his name comes up. There is never any type of defense for that action out of a coach.

As for the game itself, I don't know what others that watched feel but I turned it off when the OK/Clemson game came on. Both A&M and WVU imo played classless, "cheap shot" football. Last count that I heard on PF penalties just on A&M was five and that was far earlier than the incident with the Aggie asst.. Nether team was playing football, was more like roller derby or the "big show wrestling" junk.

Student assistant- former player...just dumb!

 

I agree, even with him being a student asst., it still looks as bad on the program / university as had any coach done that. He was on the sideline, wearing a headset, instructing players ..... regardless of age/title he represented the university.

Well that's one way to commit career suicide.

What point in the game did this happen? I have been watching' date=' but have been out of the room for extended periods of time. A&M has definetly played dirty throughout, but I must have missed the altercations with the coach. If true, I agree that he should be fired. To me it would be odd for a coach to try to inflict injury on a football player in full pads, it wouldn't exactly be easy to hurt them. I understand that's not the point, its just odd.[/quote']
