How do you compare the west Ds boys to the east Ds boys stripes?

Both teams have good players

who's your pick when they square off?:thumb:

I was told last weekend by some of the DS West players at the SOS tourney that they have already played the DS East team and the West team beat the East team by 9 points.

really, I wish I could have been at that game? Where was it at? I know both teams played in Houston but didnt play, then last week the west team was cleaning up in Florence, but I think those are the only two tournaments the west team has played in this year

You are mostly correct, adding 6'4" Dexter Heyman from Male and 6'6" Dean Pruett from J'town certainly doesn't hurt, Dexter has 7'1" wingspan and is a beast in the paint. There doesn't need to be "nothing more" since they were state champs 3 yrs in a row, only losing to Kentucky Hawks last yr w/ Arez Henderson by a few points (whom they have beaten more times than I care to count) with the free throw difference being 26-5 in favor of the Hawks. Anyways, this team is still quiet good and has improved.

I am pretty sure the West players said they played the East team in a tournament in Louisville. I am just basing my information on what the players said.

ok, they are talking about the executive inn classick all star game "some" of the players from the east played "some" of the players on the west, along with a lot of other players, all star game format, not a real "GAME"

but the west did win, but that is the game they are talking about

Thanks for the info shooterx3!

I believe the Heyman kid is said to be a solid football player too. He does as rebounding to the 16's team. When I stated, "nothing more" it was not meant to be negative, just to the point.

No problem, you are correct. The kids like being a part of the DS group and as we have found out traveling everyone knows of Derek Smith and the program so we are flying under a different flag this yr. You are also right about Heyman, a physical beast, dominates in the post and his attitude is great. He will have a very successful future on and off the field (div 1 football prospect for sure).

We are off to the Speice Run N’ Slam next week!!

Considering the Mayo, Walker, NCH, Oak Hill, Manhatten h.s. recent ongoing circus - I think that AAU and/or some of it's representatives that are supposed to be for kids is not as upstanding as it was meant to be from it's conception. Just my opinion.

Your viewpoint of AAU as that of being a circus due to the Mayo saga is quite understandable. However, you are making a broad opinion based on a situation that is derived from a "star" player and judging all programs, events, and affiliations from that. AAU and all other spring and summer activities involved therein are NOT circus acts, but development time in both skills and character for the "most" part. AAU is a positive part of basketball, but judging from the most visable players is not the way to create an honest opinion of AAU in its entirety. Just a thought.

Don't condemn the entire AAU system just because of a few bad apples in a very unique situation. After all you're talking about the #1 & 2 juniors in the country!! For most of the players, AAU gives them an opportunity to play against better competition, gain valuable experience, travel and meet new kids; all without having to deal with shoe contracts!! Go and watch some games, judge for yourself and don't condemn the vast majority of well meaning players and coaches for the actions of a few greedy folks!!
