I know a lot of people have not been able to see Corey Pelle from Silver Grove play, for those that have not, you are really missing out on seeing a fantastic player.

 

He put on an absolute show in Nashville Tennessee in the King of the South tournament. He is one of the better all around players that I have ever been associated with.

 

He can do so many things and really does so many things to make his team and teammates better.

 

He was no doubt our MVP in Nashville and drew the attention of a lot of different college coaches that were in attendance.

 

If you get a chance, check him out!!

Don't condemn the entire AAU system just because of a few bad apples in a very unique situation. After all you're talking about the #1 & 2 juniors in the country!! For most of the players, AAU gives them an opportunity to play against better competition, gain valuable experience, travel and meet new kids; all without having to deal with shoe contracts!! Go and watch some games, judge for yourself and don't condemn the vast majority of well meaning players and coaches for the actions of a few greedy folks!!

Good points Budman. Those outside of NKY and the northern part of the 10th region probably don't know him very well, but as was said over our way all season--He (or his brother) could play for anyone!!

They have two teams in the tourney, Blue and White. I know a little bit about the blue team, don't know much about the white.

I was told today that One of Eddie Ford's team beat the d-1 greyhounds in pool play in Fort Wayne, it was D-1 's 4th game of the day and Bill and OJ did not play, but Eddie's team only had 5 players?

The Kentucky Shining Star Sports 17 and under team competed in the Spiece Run N’ Slam Tournament in Ft. Wayne this past weekend.

 

The Kentucky team now has 21 wins with only 4 defeats.

Game One

 

Kentucky Shining Star Sports 66 NW Arkansas Raptors 60

 

Because of some poor navigation skills, we arrived only a couple of minutes before the scheduled game time. We had very little time to get ready to play and it showed early in the game. The Raptors jumped on us early but we fought back to win the game by six points. A very impressive win considering the kids sat in a van for over four hours without much time to prepare to play.

 

Austin Hill- 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists

 

Zach Kiernan- 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots

 

T.J. Richardson- 6 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals.

Kentucky Shining Star Sports 98 Full Package Athletics-Silver 58

 

The Kentucky Shining Star Sports team came out on fire in the first game on Saturday morning. The team scored a season high 98 points in routing the Full Package squad.

Chris Floyd- 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists

The Kentucky Shining Star Sports team battled to hang onto a victory against a very athletic and big Grand Rapid team.

The Kentucky Shining Star Sports tournament run was ended by a very talented Team Illinois squad.

There was a lot more depth in the talent level at Speice than there was at King of South. There were 60 teams in the 17 and under age group. A lot of good teams were in Ft. Wayne this past weekend.

 

Speice does such a fantastic job putting their tournaments together. They are always so well organized. I am always so impressed with how smoothly everything goes at Speice.

 

Although, at the King of the South tourney, I thought that the Nashville Celtics were one of the better teams that I have yet to see play.

 

I know nothing about the Memorial Day classic in Nashville. The King of the South touranment was the first time we had played in Nashville.

 

I always enjoy the Kings Island tourney. They usually have a pretty good pool of teams, not as good as the other tournaments that we have discussed, but decent. It allows us to stay home during the holiday weekend, but yet good some pretty good games in.
