Going to Indy to play in the Hoosier Spring Classic NCAA Certified event. Does anyone know anything about this tourney?

Does anyone know anything about these teams?

 

Spiece Dayton Airmen were very good last year and had a number of DI players on it. If they have the same kind of talent as last year's team, then you will have your hands full.

Eddie Ford would not let the 16 & under Derek Smith Allstars in either. We were given confirmation by his assistant and the credit card was charged. The next day, after Eddie saw our roster he sent an email that said he would not allow us to play and the account had been credited. This coming after we were told there was plenty of room. He has dodged emails and phone calls since then. Our reasoning is this, he travels to several out of town tournaments and boasts to have two of the best tournaments going (the other is in July). That being said, he would have a hard time getting players he allowed Derek Smiths to attend his tournaments, he charges somewhere around $1800 to play for him, so if you could play for another team who will travel as much and also go to his tournaments for a cheaper club fee and be better that Ford's groups, why play for him. Check on some of the teams from Ky, they may have some sponsorship by Nike or Jordan (as in one of the Louisville teams going) and he is ok w/ that. He doesn't want to compete w/ other teams in this state b/c when he loses he may get pressure from his sponsor, which I believe is Nike. Any thought?

I concur Gymrat. That is about all their is to say about that. His 15's, 16's, and 17's are not in the top 5 in any of their respective divisions. He just does not pull the top talent and would not succeed well against KY comp.

ds east beat the Texas Lancers, 53-43

 

ds west lost to Illinois Warrior 71-54 after being tied at 48, both teams got in just before game time and Jet lag may have effected shooting and finishing power. The east team won by rebounding, the jet lag effected their shooting. The west team had a much tougher opponent and hit a wall with about 7 minutes to go.

ds east won their pool today with a 84-68 win over Illinois rising stars, they must have more than one 17u because there were no jordans to be found

Tyler Portwood led Ds east with 23 points

ds east got to the final 16 of the platinum division of the Houston Kingwod classic, before finally loosing about 2am eastern time to the Chicago Jaguars,

a 17u team that last year was national runnerup as 16u team in the 17u aau nationals. they finished 3-1 for the tournament with only 8 players, as Alex barker and Nathan Novosel both rolled ankles this week and couldnt play.

That leaves ds east with a 12-3 mark on the season in some pretty tough competition.:thumb:

Tyler must be able to score with penetration from the point and receiving the kickout. He does not like to put the ball on the floor and avoids contact whenever possible. In the East/West Exec Inn I am not sure if he even scored. He does have range and height and is a great kid though. Over the yrs he has grown and hasn't added size or strength, when/if he does he will be that much better.

Kentucky Shining Star Sports ended the Indy Spring Showcase with two wins and one loss. The team went 2-0 in pool play on Saturday beating the Indiana Kings and the Dayton Speice Airmen.

 

Kentucky Shining Star Sports beat the Indiana Kings 73-59. The team was led by Austin Hill with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon Callahan had 8 points and 10 rebounds, while Mike Hester chipped in with 7 points and 8 assists.

 

Kentucky Shining Star Sports beat the Spiece Dayton Airmen 82-50. The team was lead by Austin Hill with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Todd Jacobs had 17 points and 7 assists, Brandon Callahan had 8 points and 9 rebounds, TJ Richardson had 5 points and 6 assists.

 

Kentucky Shining Star Sports went into Sunday's one and out tourney as a number one seed out of their pool. The S3 group was upset by the number two seed Randolph team.

 

A dissapointing end to the tournament for the Kentucky Shining Star Sports team.

 

The team is off to Nashville next weekend to play in the King of the South Tournament.

I have not noticed Tyler avoiding contact, he does need to finish stronger, but he runs the floor extremely well and has been rebounding and playing well:thumb:

Tyler has a lot of potential with his size,ability to see the floor,shoot basketball IQ etc.., I agree he does avoid contact whenever possible.From what I have observed and talking with players and others he does not like the weight room or works very hard outside practice to get better, stronger or quicker. He lacks on the ball quickness but he plays so smart it does not hurt him to much at this level. I hope he can pick it up because he is a good kid & has a bright future.

In the same tournament Duran Jefferson's team (they were red, the Cougars maybe) failed to make it out of pool play, albeit a very difficult pool.
