I totally agree with you. It was not one of the better managed tourneys that we have attended.

It is usually played in the schools near Kings Island. Kings Island is one of the sponsors and they offer discounted tickets to the teams that are attending.

Todd Jacobs was in a zone this weekend. He played his best ball this weekend. A couple of the scouting services were really impressed with Todd. We had a lot of people asking about him.

I would certainly think he CAN, and since he gave up some other sports he was very good at to concentrate on basketball; I'd think he WILL if given the opportunity!!

Higher level? D1? No one loves watching TJ more than me and no one has been saying he's tops in his class longer than me but he's not playing D1. He's not a D1 PG.

 

NKU is a PERFECT fit.

Usually the Kings schools. High schools and middle schools.

 

Depending on the number of teams, they may add additional gyms.

It certainly has been a busy AAU season, even more so than last year. I have seen a tremendous amount of talent in Ohio and Kentucky and have seen several of the players I have watched over the past years continue to develop.

 

As I have stated for the past 2 or 3 years, Darius Miller is the top player in Kentucky's Class of 2008 and will make a run at Mr. Basketball come his senior year. I know his coach with the D1 Greyhounds out of Ohio and he says Miller has excelerated his pace of development. One of the best asset Miller holds is his attitude not to be content and improve his game. His points per game is solid, but what makes Miller better is that he fills the stat lines across the board. If there is a challenger in the Class of 2008 that could come from nowhere to take his shot at Mr. Basketball, its Bud Mackey. He has a very strong all-around game and has scorer's mentality. Very athletic. He will make some noise along with Haddix and Matt Walls at Scott County.

 

I have seen Pettigrew of the Derek Smith AS play and have heard that he is in the running for Mr. Basketball for 2007. I have also seen Rodney Haddix and his game has improved a great deal since last year. He plays relentlessly on both ends of the court. Haddix has improved his shooting range and has become even more agressive in the lane.

 

In the Class of 2009, I have seen Jenkins with his Louisville team perform in a recent tourney in Florence. Jenkins continues to develop and shows why he will certainly be a candidate for Mr. Basketball come his senior year. His ability to score last year was uncanny and his range and accuracy continues to improve. I have heard that Darrin Ballou of the KY Hoopstars has continued to improve as well and I am anxious to see his team play. I do know that Josh Crawford has continued to improve and I expect him to compete for top honors his senior year too. Other names you will hear about soon from the Class of 2009 are CJ Penny, a kid named Phares of Scott County, and

Of course you will more from the Faulkners and Ferguson who are running with the KY Hoopstars.

 

So far, an outstanding early start for AAU in Kentucky and southern Ohio. If any one knows of some quality tourneys in Lexington or Louisville with some top KY programs or even national programs playing in them coming up in the weeks ahead, please cue us in.

good update Stripes, I think the two front runners right now for Mr Basketball next year is Profitt and Pettigrew, both are great competitors, Pettigrew may have a big time football body though,

The state aau is coming up may 20th at Kba, should be a very competive tournament. I hear the Kentucky hoopstars are going to play as another team (as Eddie would never play in a tournament against other ky teams)

but the 17u should be very competive with both Derek Smith teams, Shining Stars, and I hear the old Warriors team is going to show up, and I bet South Laurels's southern heat team is in it too

should be a good one

Please correct me if I am wrong here, but Austin Hill is about 5'11" to 6'1" and is a bulky playmaking combo guard. I have seen him perform and if it is the same player I am thinking of, he has come out of his shell playing for his AAU team the Shining Stars. From what I have been told, he is either leading the team in points per game or one of the top scorers. The kid can play lock-down defense and has strength. If he carries this play back to his high school play, he will be one of the 9th Regions top players and could get some state attention if Holmes can play up to expectations this coming season.
