Who is going to be the best quarterback in the state next year??

Featured Replies

Ben Zoeller will be the starting QB for the St.X Tigers this fall and he will be outstanding.It won't take long for him to make a name for himself around these parts as a top notch QB.

Probably will be a contender for top 10 in the State, in Class 4A.

Just a few tid-bits.

1. the current 2005/2006 school year is his Sophmore year;

2. Lasered 4.7 - 40 as a Sophmore;

3. Prior to freshman year had NEVER taken a snap at the QB position (was always over the CSAA weight limit for a skilled position);

4. Had second longest run in the 2005 State Championship Game; and

5. Highest average yards per carry in the 2005 State Championship Game.

He will be a very good St. X type of QB.

You do realize that

a.) He was a sophmore last season

b.) He threw for 1636 yards and missed the first two games.

c.) He has virtually his entire recieving corp back.

HE will be a good qb next year but he wont be as big of a threat as Duran... Duran will be the best QB next year in nky simply because of his athleticism and playmaking ability...they are two different qb's...duran can hurt you either way,with his feet or arm but mainly his feet, whereas bricking will only scramble when he has to and will pick defenses apart all day with his arm..but both will definetly be special players :thumb: :thumb:

Bricking has been working hard during the off season and has made definite strides to be one of the top QB's this year. His strength and overall size has improved and as for his speed, he can run if given the opportunity... I agree, he likes the "air" but this year you will see more ground coverage. This past year was only his second year at the QB position and before that he was an outstanding WR. It should be a great year for 4AAAA!

I'm going to have to disagree. Until Duran is able to throw the ball, he's not going to be the best in NKY, let alone the state. He's definitely an athlete at the QB position, but his arm strength is average at best. If he had some zip on the ball along with a tight spiral, the kid would definitely be mentioned as one of the tops in the state. He's definitely not a QB at the next level either.

I believe it's Shelby County that had a sophomore at quarterback last year. I was very impressed with him. He had good size and a strong arm. He was one of the better young QBs I saw last year. Not saying he's tops in the state, but from what I saw, he was solid.

If it wasn't Shelby County, then it was whoever Dixie played in the first round of the playoffs last year.

Chaz Hope for Madison Central (soph last season) is another young buck with major upside. Nice arm, very smart, big body. However, he runs like a linemen and really needs to improve his foot speed. If he can get quicker, watch out for this kid.

There is no way in my opinion that DJ will be the best QB in NKY next year. Athlete, Yes, Quarterback, No. I believe Josh Bleser will be the Best Quarterback in NKY next year and one of the tops in the State. Great arm, not nearly as mobile as DJ or Ellison last year but great arm and great head on his shoulders. The offense he is in will support his style of play great also if the line can give him some time. Watch this kid im telling u.:thumb:

This year was Duran's first year playing qb since his freshman year and that was the only year he had ever played it so thats why his passing game isnt as strong. I know like Bricking he has been working on his OVERALL game so far in the off season so you will see a much better QUARTERBACK this year and not just a athlete playing qb. Also his overall stength is improving since he hit the weight room when hoop ended. Austin Hill and Rashad Palmer will be reliable targets this year for him so his passing numbers should definetly be up.

IMO Jefferson and Bricking will be tops in nky 4a...too close to call who's better because of the different offenses.

Watching DJ throw the ball last year, it almost looked like he was pushing it. His balls fluttered, and there wasn't much zip on them. I don't see this improving any. I could be wrong, and if so, I'll eat crow for it. Another top qb in NKY 4A next year will be the kid from Boone that replaced Farris. He threw a pretty ball and was a very good runner. I thought Boone was a better team with him at qb and Farris at the hb position. Right now, I'd put him ahead of DJ.

Boone Co - QB - Shawn Bogle should turn some heads this season. He is very athletic and has a very strong arm. He is quick and has speed. Shawn should have a nice group of receivers to throw to this season. It took Boone a little while to gel and fit into the skilled postions last year. With Bogle having a 1/2 year of season and playoff games, I think he will be ready to make some noise in NKY. Shawn should give Bleser, DJ and Bricking all the competition they will want.

Thanks chevyman. I couldn't remember his name. And he'll only be a junior, correct?

Correct! Many of Boone's skill players will be Junior's.

In SEKY, the 3 QB's to watch will be:

Clint Cashen (Corbin)

Ricky Bowling (South Laurel)

Thomas Frazier (Williamsburg)

Ross Deaton (Somerset)

Clay County's young QB (I am sorry, but I can't recall his name temporarily, but he was very solid last year as a frosh I believe)

I'm from SEKY and even I can see that that adds up to seven.:lol: j/k
