I spent the day seeing some good friends. This evening I went to church with my nephew & sister...beautiful Christmas Eve program complete with singing Christmas carols. The highlight was at the end when we all sang Silent Night holding our candles high on the 4th verse. Now I'm with family watching some Christmas movies after making party mix & drinking egg nog. I plan on watching midnight mass from the Vatican not Catholic but I find it to be so beautiful and moving. Merry Christmas to all!

Candle Light Service at Church which always end with everyone standing around the inside perimeter of the sanctuary holding candles as all of the lights are turned off and we sing Silent Night.

 

Then home for Family Game night and Eating!!!

Tonight was Potato Soup, Sausage Balls, Christmas Candy and Rook!!!

At some point I retire to the living room to watch It's a Wonderful Life or a Bowl Game

 

Then go to bed watching A Christmas Story around midnight or so!!!

Daughter is 24 and INSISTS on keeping up little traditions. Live tree, opening one present on Christmas Eve, stuff like that. Just a little while ago she was playing Christmas carols on out piano.

 

I for one enjoy that.

My 13 year old Daughter was playing "Mary did you know" on Clarinet earlier...loved it!

Always go to the in-laws for presents and a Prime Rib (18 pound bone-in monster) dinner, my son the chef, prepares. Everyone just loves the food. We usually sit around and tell old stories on dumb things someone in the family has done or said at previous Christmas Eve's. Believe me, my wife's family give us plenty of stories to tell.

 

Just got home around 8:00 and get up early and drive 7 hours to share Christmas day with my son and his family in Atlanta. Then the lovely lady and I drive to Florida on Friday to take our annual Christmas/New Years cruise sailing on Saturday for 8 days that is our gift to each other.

I just had two glasses of eggnog. It was great, but I know that I will pay for it in the morning!:sour:

My parents, brother (wife and kids), & sister (husband & kids), and Mrs. Lawnboy and all 3 of Daddy's Little Girls go to church at 5:30. Of course, this FedEx guy doesn't make mass with the family:irked:, so I'll be heading to Midnight Mass by myself in about 20 minutes. I was told DLG 2.0 & 3.0 made beautiful servers tonight. :thumb: After Mass we go to my parents for dinner.

 

In the past my father would break out the slide projector and we would watch slides from when me and my siblings were "younger", however a few years ago my father-in-law took all my parents slides and pictures and put them ALL on DVD's.:ylsuper: We truly enjoy this time together.

Good stuff across the board.

 

I forgot to add watching Christmas Vacation when we get back home (which we just did). I don't know if there are many things I can give myself props for, but I honestly think I can recite the whole movie within reason...or pretty close from start to finish (while watching it of course..a little help needed in parts lol).

 

....yes, I just admitted that.

I'm going home here in a few and watch A Christmas Story. True story my wife loves that movie.

Christmas day will be at my family's gathering.

In what's perhaps a strange development in recent years, I've taken advantage of my parents' church's moving Midnight Mass up an hour by coming home and pouring a beer (Sam Adams Old Fezziwig Ale this time) and watching the rebroadcast of the Midnight Mass from St. Peter's Basilica.

 

It's just ending and I love the way it finishes with the pope taking the statue of the Baby Jesus from its place near the altar and walking it to the back of the church and placing in the nativity scene. Beautiful event in Rome every year.
