Consider Preston King at Iroquois

 

In Coach King's first year he took Iroquois to a 11-2 record, won 2 playoff games, and narrowly lost to John Hardin in the semifinals, 7-6.

 

He inherited a team that was 5-5 in 2013, and in the 10 years prior to that, they were 13-85 with only one playoff appearance.

Coach Scott Turner, Highlands. "The Magician"! (the award didn't say HEAD coach of the year!:clap:)

With the schedule they faced, and a pretty young and inexperienced team, Coach Beatty of Trinity, may have done his finest coaching job, since arriving in St. Matthews. After concluding the regular season at 5-5, the Rocks where able to go 5-0 in the playoffs, including revenge victories over Male and St. X, ending with a dominate win over a previously 1 loss Dixie Heights. Pretty impressive.

Coach Branden Smith for South Warren. First year coach that took a 4 year program to the Semifinal game.

Larry French. Great turn around at SW

So many deserving. For what it's worth? My 3 (in no particular order).

It may not be a popular pick with some of my Mayfield brethren and I wouldn't trade Coach Joe for anybody and believe he is one of the best in the State, but for a single season pick, what Gregory did at Graves County is impressive any way you slice it. Graves had never been to state and he did it with a group of kids that were not their most talented. They started out the season very poorly. He made adjustments and ran through 5A up to state and didn't go into the night quietly when they got there.

Brossart from Dixie. He did a great job getting that team to the finals.

Brian Weinrich and Scott Turner- Highlands. Incredible work under intense pressure.
