From what little I have read, he was not engaged in that activity at the time. Since we are all just analyzing and second-guessing, that goes into my statement about the necessity of the confrontation altogether. He resisted because he felt he was being harassed...what I don't know is, was he, or was it justified to stop him?

I've often wonder why me or none of my friends ever get abused by the police. I suppose if could be that I'm white but I'm leaning toward the fact that I do my best to respect other people and their property. I also am not dumb enough to knowingly disobey the law and those sworn to enforce it.

This ENTIRE interaction was unnecessary. The man wasn't even doing anything, and now he's dead. You can ride your high horse as much as you'd like, but this is an epidemic and it's only getting worse.

So he is a criminal but just not acting as a criminal at that particular time. Every criminal thinks they are being harassed.

If he hadn't committed a crime, he WAS being harassed.

 

Did they suspect he was committing a crime? Does he have a history of criminal activity? Look I don't want to see anyone die but the police have a right to ask him to move on. He choose to resist, they did not just walk up an assualt him.

 

It's tragic but there is little history of the police killing people who comply with their orders and who are guilty of nothing.

He was either selling illegal cigarettes or he wasn't... There hasn't been anything published to indicate that was going on at the time of the interaction. Just because a person has committed a crime in the past doesn't mean they are every time you see them.

Duece, that dude was pretty defensive from the beginning of the video. The only person who was acting hostile up until the altercation was the victim. The police only got physical once he resisted arrest. I have no idea if the police had resonable cause but I don't think they are questioning every person standing on the street.

 

And for the record, I feel like I hit the genetic lottory when I was born a white, male, American. So I'm understand where minorities are coming from but these victims are not innocent victims.
