Like his brother last year, he was underrated coming into the season.

 

When I was getting feedback from some of the best in the 11th last season, one name that kept coming up that I wasn't quite as familiar with as the others was Jeremiah Tisdale, and he was above some players who had a bit of a bigger name.

 

You hear enough people talk whose opinions on the game you really respect all come back saying basically the same thing, you are probably going to be onto something. Jeremiah proved it during the Jr/Sr All Star showcase this summer, and Isaiah could wind up having the same impact this season.

Holmes might be a little overrated in the top 10 but you guys are seriously sleeping on Henry Clay.

 

They came in preseason top 15-20 for a reason.

I actually thought bolden played some good defense. Holmes I think will be fine, everyone still just has to find their role. I really like the stroke from Mullins and I'd like to see him and avery attack the rim more. I also think commodore looks like a player, just needs some more confidence. McClendon should shoot more also and not be so hesitant. Once everyone attacks and stops relying on bolden I think they'll be fine. I was also impressed with Boldens demeanor and attitude last night. He showed good senior leadership and didn't let the struggles get to him. His athleticism is off the charts. Love watching the kid play.

One other note I heard some fans dogging listerman. The man is a heck of a coach and one of the best ever in nky. They were complaining about his lack of fire and passion which I think is ridiculous. I personally felt the players responded better to his style than boohers. I seen less lip and attitude from the players than I have in some time, despite the struggles

He's not the best defender. I think part of that is simply because they need him to stay out of foul trouble.

Beetle or Holmes? I think Holmes is overrated. If all it takes to shut them down is to double Beetle, well, there you have it. Their success in a scrimmage over what looks like a poopy Scott County team is telling. I'd agree with overrated.

Great win for Henry Clay without the "older" Tinsdale. This could be a dangerous thing for the 11th region opponents, giving these young guys a confident win over a top 10 team in the state. The "younger" Tinsdale is a heck of a guard, not as athletic as his brother but can play. Who does Henry Clay play next?

Henry Clay has a decent team, but the game simply boiled down to Holmes's lack of defensive effort in the second half. It was ugly. In the last few years they could get away with gambling a little bit because they could funnel players into shot blockers of Chames and Hill. They do not have that luxury anymore.

They didn't contain dribblers and rotations were non-existent. Plus, they were beaten down the floor in transition.

On defense, Henry Clay had some length at the guard spot and would run doubles at Bolden to force him to give up the ball and then would face guard him with others getting regular man to man treatment. Often times the ball would not return to him and others were forced to try and make plays.

Holmes is really going to miss Chames and Hill this year. Avery has improved but he is not the physical presence that Chames was or one that Hill developed into.

 

Every point here is well-considered and absolutely accurate, but a couple of Bulldogs did play good defense last night, including an extended stretch in the second period when, if I'm not mistaken, Tisdale only had one bucket. Unfortunately, these particular Holmes players weren't big scorers so there won't be much discussion of their work -- there's no stat line for how many screens a player fights through per game. Maybe I'm too old-school, but the role of the stopper doesn't seem to get much love these days. And it's still true that Holmes needs to adjust and improve overall on the defensive end or this could be a long winter.

Bottom line this was two good teams going at it and Henry Clay played better and won a good game. They both we know will be better as the season rolls on. To think that Holmes won't be successful or that Henry Clay is just not competitive because the loss of Jeremiah is just nonsense this early. These are probably two top 20 teams that will win some good one's and lose a few.

 

It's EARLY, no reason for anyone to be too concerned. It's one game in a long season. Good job and congrats Henry Clay. Job well done on the road.

Mullins didnt play a lot because of foul trouble but he played well when he was in.

 

He has the chance to be really good for Holmes. Very athletic, nice outside shot, and defends well.
