People move to areas to start families. Highlands is an excellent place to start a family. Especially if you are a young affluent family who really value education and want your kids with good breeding stock to grow up in an area where they have the best chance to succeed. Now when Bob (Former NKU Point Guard) marries Susan (Former NKU cross country star) or Doug (Former Georgetown College CB) marries Mary (Former Xavier Cheerleader) where do you think they are interested in planting their roots?

 

It's not a negative thing at all...but it is a perk of the location.

Don't Towles and Hoge have some pretty good bloodlines? Aren't a quite a few Highlands football players sons and nephews of former Highlands football players?

Okay. We'll agree to disagree. You're not going to convince me that southern Cincy is more of a Title Town than Mayfield/Graves County and Danville/Boyle County.

 

I don't care if my team is in "Title Town" or not. I'm tickled to death that my school is playing in it's 10th State Title game in the last 15 years. And the school 2 miles away is playing in it's 11th in 15 years.

Why are people bothered about what someone wants to call their area? It's pretty neat when two schools in the same city have a chance to get titles in the same year. If it happens it will make a heck of a party town.

Danville/Boyle is officially Title Town.

 

I don't necessarily buy Mayfield/Graves as a "rural" area..but for the sake of the OP this would be the first time outside of Danville/Boyle that a non-metro County would have two Champions.

Highlands/NewCath is certainly in a metro area...as is anyone from Jefferson County

 

Pike County gave it a good go in 1979 when both Belfry and Pikeville were State Runner-Ups.

 

With all that said, I think Pulaski is the favorite in 5A.

That's really close to being accurate, as I sit here thinking I count about 12, could be a few more or a few less, but a very good guess.

In the Counties directly surrounding Campbell you have 7 playing football in Kenton County, 5 in Boone. Kids aren't coming to NewCath or Highlands, like people thing, from over there.

Villa Hills and Fort Mitchell= Closest High Schools are Beechwood (one of Kentucky's top football traditions), Covington Catholic (Another one of KY's top programs), and Dixie Heights (Playing for 6A Title)

 

Edgewood has Dixie Heights and Scott. Not as prevalent of an example, but Scott's program is on the upswing and Dixie we have already discussed.

 

Once again...being the spot for affluent young families to set their roots in a suburban area has it's perks for sure.

Fort Thomas, a ton of NewCath players come from there as well, as much as I don't like saying it.

No, I said that all athletes are split between only 2 schools. Graves doesn't get this far without plenty of good athletes. Western KY teams always have athletes. Nobody would ever deny that.
