My point is this. There are 90,988 people in Campbell County. Athletes are spread out over 7 schools. What Northern Campbell County has been able to put together for the past 15 years, in my opinion, is more impressive than Graves County having one good year and Mayfield being Mayfield. All athletes in Graves County go to 1 of 2 schools. It isn't the same thing up here. It isn't like NewCath is pulling a bunch of kids from Kenton County. Neither is Higlands. I think that people are exaggerating the areas that those two schools get kids from.

In the counties directly surrounding Campbell there are probably well over 300K population.

 

Highlands feats are impressive...so to are NewCath's.... but having a huge population base in the suburbs of a large city certainly has it's merits.

 

To add to all this...Boyle/Danville's accomplishment rings even more impressive considering they were doing it in the 4 Class System opposed to Graves getting in during the 6 Class alignment.

 

Me personally... I have always wondered how Owensboro and Lexington haven't had much more success than they have. That's two nice population bases without really a championship in the modern era.

I also have question, started wondering this after the Graves win at BG. Has there ever been a player to throw a touchdown pass for 2 different schools in a championship game?

 

Graves will need to avoid "the deer in the headlights" scenario which happens to most 1st timers. With Reed playing in multiple championships, much of that will fall on his shoulders, before and during the game.

 

County fans may have huge support if the city folks show up a night early to catch the 5A game. With BG in your region, this may be a rare opportunity to make Mayfield Title Town, Ky USA.

 

Not to get ahead of myself but has a player ever won state championships from multiple schools? This will be the first chance of anyone from Graves/Mayfield area.

Boyle County has won 2 titles in the 6 Class system. 2009 and 2010.

People move to areas to start families. Highlands is an excellent place to start a family. Especially if you are a young affluent family who really value education and want your kids with good breeding stock to grow up in an area where they have the best chance to succeed. Now when Bob (Former NKU Point Guard) marries Susan (Former NKU cross country star) or Doug (Former Georgetown College CB) marries Mary (Former Xavier Cheerleader) where do you think they are interested in planting their roots?

 

It's not a negative thing at all...but it is a perk of the location.

 

It also explains why schools like Dayton, Ludlow, and Bellevue remain the Have Not's.
