How much time did Harris miss?

 

Per KHSAA website he played in 7 games of the 11 they played. They also went 6-5 against pretty weak competition. I realize he is the top recruit in Kentucky, but that does not necessarily anoint you as the best football player THIS YEAR.

Sure it does. A Mr. Football calibar player should be on a level above those on the field and thus be able to lead his team to the title. Mr. Football should be able to raise the level of play for his team as well. You have your opinion and I have mine. Harris missed almost half the season and frankly the competition he played against is pretty weak. Sindelar had good stats against a pretty good schedule and they may still be playing had he not been injured. Hoge has certainly put up good numbers against a very good schedule minus the two games that have to be played for district seed purposes. Beau Hoge for Mr. Football.

 

Football is the ultimate team game. The best player in the state isn't going to win games , much less the state championship, without a bunch of other good players. You can't penalize a kid who doesn't have great teammates.

If Beau Hoge is not a finalist for this award then it is an even bigger farce than the bogus all state teams that they come up with every year.

Mr. Football award is a joke. They give the award to the player that goes to the big schools. Example, Curtis Pulley won the award, but it should of went to Brandon Smith of Boyle, or Kelvin Turner of Danville. The only reason he got it was because he was going to Kentucky! So Damien Harris will win this year because he has been in the headlines for 3 yrs, but Hoge should win he plays a brutal schedule EVERY week while Harris beats on teams like Whitley, Rockcastle, ets, now u let Highlands and Hoge play teams like that each week and he would break school records.

I cannot think on anyone who would have. Alexander played for Owen Hauck at Boone County. They lost the state championship 21-7 to Trinity. Couch played at Leslie County and is one of the Mr. Football winners who did not play in the finals. Leslie County lost 47-12 at Highlands in the Semifinals.

Haven't seen alot of players in the state this year to comment on whether they are Mr. Football or not, but I have seen alot of the past Mr. Football players before they were Mr. Football and I must say Beau is every bit of Mr. Football as they were.

When I watch him play he is just on another level compared to everyone else. The only RB that I have seen that might be better is Alexander, and I say Alexander gets the nod, but his team around him was waaaay better than what is around Harris. I can give different things to describe him but IMO the best way to sum it up is that he is very special!
