While most of LCA's games are played against teams from Lexington or the 11th Region, LCA has played 2 games so far this year against the teams of other players mentioned as potential Mr. Basketball candidates. In those games, Rose went for 25 & 7 against Trinity and 21 & 8 against Manual, posting better numbers than both Spalding and Sutton.

 

Sutton: 4-10 from 2pt, 2-5 from 3pt, 4-6 fts, 18 pts 10 rebs. 6 assists

Rose: 4-11 from 2pt, 2-4 from 3, 7-9 fts, 21 pts, 8 rebs. 2 assists.

 

Don't think this equates to better numbers.

He said " He is a legit 3-point weapon playing the 5, unlike Spalding and Holman." To me this is implying he doesn't shoot the three well. Thus mentioning his skill set.

 

I wasn't comparing any part of either of their games, just saying if he doesn't think Spalding can shoot then he hasn't seen his full skill set showcased.

 

I took it as him saying Rose can shoot the three better than Ray. From what I have seen that is a correct statement and Rose is allowed to shoot that three any time he wants. And he will. I didn't take his words as a slight on Ray. Just an observation.

In addition to my own eyes, the KHSAA website says that Spalding was 0 for 11 last year from 3 pt. over 35 games and, according to the earlier post in this thread by LexFan at 1:37 pm today, Spalding's 3 pt. percentage this season is 0% meaning, if this information is correct, Ray hasn't made a 3 point shot in the last two seasons. If you want to show me stats that prove he can stroke the 3 consistently, please do and I will change my opinion. Also, his 57% free throw shooting last season and 48% free throw shooting this season doesn't help convince me that he is a great outside shooter.

FYI, Spalding is 0 for 4 this year on 3-pointers through 11 games per the KHSAA. Again, I like Ray and think he is a tremendous talent. We just disagree on whether or not he can knock down the 3.

Could anyone anywhere really think Spalding is as good of a shooter as Rose from LCA? I haven't seen him in the vaunted AAU, but seriously....stop.
