December 2, 201411 yr THANK YOU. The reason more isn't done to fix black on black crime is because nobody that is important enough or has enough pull gives two craps about it. Fact. People can say "stop killing each other," and as simple as it sounds, it's not that easy to fix. But that is my point...the people who are deemed important enough or have pull don't organize protests or rally's on this or make public displays on an NFL field about it. Why not? Why focus on a much smaller issue when you have an opportunity to make a statement about a much larger one.

Not Al Sharpton and St. Louis Rams football players. Those people have never gotten anything constructive done. They are opportunistic protesters.
December 2, 201411 yr One question I've wondered since Obama has taken office and some of the lawyer posters can help out. If inner city violence is a major issue for his adminsitration why aren't we trying to use the RICO statue and other extreme measures to eliminate street gangs in the inner city or at least cripple their power . Street gangs are the root of everything.

Street gangs are the root of everything. Has been tried in some places, notably Chicago. As is, lots of people already think that RICO sometimes goes too far in what's considered punishable under it, and even though some gangs/hate groups have been charged under it, I'd imagine that those cases are much tougher to build considering that you have to prove that the people didn't just commit the crimes, but, loosely speaking, that they committed them in furtherance of a large criminal enterprise. busting gangs - Chicago Tribune Alleged gang members arraigned under RICO Act, may get life in prison | Lake County News-Sun
December 2, 201411 yr When have we seen the big talking heads like Sharpton out there organizing protests/rally's etc.? Maybe I've missed it. Yes you have. Nobody covers it.

I'm convinced we can talk until we are blue in the face on these issues but this problem #1 before anything else can be solved.
December 2, 201411 yr Yes you have. Nobody covers it. To add even more irony to it the local Chicago media embraced Al Sharpton for attempting to buy an apartment in the most murderous neighborhood in Chicago. He proclaimed that in June 2013 and his plan was to live in this apartment 2-4 days out of the week and while in town he'd do all he could to curb violence. By November his book had been released and his apartment was vacated and the local Chicago media has taken him to task for not following through on his claims and people STILL haven't covered that either. :lol2: :lol2:
December 3, 201411 yr Who else is old enough to remember the Black Power salute in the 1968 Olympics? I remember it very well. It caused a big ruckus at the time, which was right at the most turbulent time of the Civil Rights movement of the late '60s.
December 3, 201411 yr Britt wrote "Mike Brown" on one wrist and "my kids matter" on the other. Would this not apply to the others? players are prohibited from wearing, displaying, or otherwise conveying personal messages either in writing or illustration, unless such message has been approved in advance by the League office. Maybe they didn't see it. They somehow missed casino security footage of a player knocking his girlfriend out cold...

I'm convinced we can talk until we are blue in the face on these issues but this problem #1 before anything else can be solved. The mafia's racketeering and organized crime is kind of different in their financial aspects and the way in which there was a set financial structure within their organizations (think things like people laundering money, bribery, involvement in politics, etc.). Street gangs are more likely to have loose affiliations, etc. that I'd imagine would be tougher to track and build a case against.
