It is pretty weird. The Bengals play horribly, and by the end of the day the results are the absolute best any Bengal fan could wish for. I'm grateful, but I'm still shaking my head about the onside. :no: We might not have had to gnaw our bloody nails in the last seconds of the game if the stupid onside had never happened. Seriously what were they thinking? I want to hear Marvin explain that decision to the press.

He explained it. Said there was a formation from Tampa that triggered the onsides call...

If the onside had gone in the Bengals favor I guess some would see it as a genius call, but to me no matter which way it went, it just wasn't necessary to risk at that point in the game. They had just gotten the lead and had no desperate need to immediately regain possession. Why take the chance to give the Bucs such great field position so unnecessarily, only increasing their odds to score, which we saw was indeed the result. The Bengals are damn lucky that it was just a FG. They should have been at that point doing everything to secure the lead that they finally got, not increasing their chances of losing it. 100% stupid, no if's, and's, or but's. I'm glad that they won for sure, but the 12 on the field was a gift and a miracle that they didn't even deserve. Blows my mind. I'm happy the day freakishly went as it did with everyone else losing, but I'm not at all proud of them in their victory. They didn't earn it, it was handed to them. They amazingly keep finding ways to win all the while finding ways to embarrass themselves.

Please remember that the Bengals were playing their 3rd straight road game and the record of teams when forced to do this is NOT good the 3rd game. The Bucs are not a good NFL team but EVERY NFL team has A LOT of good players. The win was not pretty but ANY win in the NFL is a good win.

 

Why is the 12 men on the field a gift? It was a penalty that should have been called initially but the refs blew it. If TB lined up with 11, they may not have completed that pass because I am sure the 12th guy on the field messed the Bengals D up.

A win's a win and I'll take it too. I say "gift" just simply because they were lucky that the Bucs were dumb enough to do it, and especially during that crucial play of the game. That stuff is 1 in a million in that situation. No doubt the extra player could've had an effect on getting the play off in the Buc's favor. All kinds of things weren't working in the Bengals favor with Dalton sick and them with their 3rd road game and I get that, but my biggest gripe is the onside kick that made ZERO sense and was the one monumental dumb move that almost cost them the game. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Steelers and Ravens were both favored and lost home games to teams with a history of not playing so well on the road.

 

Today's results certainly put the Bengals in the drivers seat. Two games up in the loss column with four to play is rare air in the NFL.

three seed, one seed, six seed.... isn't going to matter. Dalton and Marvin vs Peyton or Brady will be.... well, we all know how that will end. I still root like heck for the Bengals but I just don't forsee any hope for a deep playoff run. I don't trust Marvin and Dalton in a big game.

Sad but true... And if you put a gun to my head, I'd say I trust Dalton more than Marvin....

Steelers suck

 

COACHING: Terrible clock management at the end of the first half cost the Steelers points and the Saints clearly made better adjustments as the game progressed. How could Mike Tomlin not have his team better prepared coming off a bye week against a team that doesn't play all that well on the road and had less than a week to get ready for the Steelers? I am hoping that when the Bengals play the browns in two weeks that it will be for a chance to clinch the division that day for the bengals. If the Bengals beat the Steelers this week and if the Ravens lose to Miami this week. Then no matter what the browns do against the colts this week, the Bengals could clinch the division if they beat the browns if the things I mentioned happened. Which is very possible.
