If I was a Lexcath parent and I had to be late or miss my son's possible last game I'd be even more upset. I remember how mad we were having to go to Bell Co on Thanksgiving. You didn't want to be on the opposite side of the ball. I would feel the same way if I were Lexington Catholic. I'm very disappointed in whoever allowed this at Highlands.

Hey we know enough people to make some calls and maybe just maybe have a power shortage at your work at say about 430pm ish with a representative notifying businesses in that area that power will not be restored to say 930pm ish:thumb:

I can always take vacation time. It would just cost me the OT I would have otherwise. I either take vacation or miss it.

I'm fortunate that if I'm working I can usually take off a little early. Not everyone can do that. It seems it would be worse for Lex Cath parents who work.

 

What is interesting though, All other playoff games are listed as 730pm on the KHSAA site. Highlands/Lex Cath is the only deviation from that schedule.

KHSAA should govern these game times so everyone plays at the exact time so there is no disadvantage or advantage from a rest and preparation (ie- scout time)

 

One hr does not make that big of a deal especially to the above but say a Thurs game vs a Friday game is just plain wrong imo but we have already addressed that issue and I believe so has the KHSAA.

 

I am sure there are some special cases where weather could be a factor but I am not sure what could have prompted this change but we will find out soon enough...

Since I was thrown into this thread I will comment on it. Maybe the 6pm start time is to try and get LexCath to duck them?

I do t understand why moving the game up unless both teams requested it. As was said, if I'm a parent of one of the Lex kids and I didn't get off work until 5pm. I would be a bit upset.

I have to admit I was surprised by the moving of the game time. Does anyone know why? I've heard people say it is wrong (I agree) but I still have not heard why. I don't understand the rationale of moving it to 6. A lot of people DO have to work the day after Turkey Day so this will definitely inconvenience some people and I just don't see the upside (one hour is not going to make any real difference in the weather).

 

Someone mentioned earlier that LexCath had to OK it but unless the rules have changed, I don't think so. Anyway, this is not a huge deal but I don't like or understand it and if I was a parent of a kid on either team that has to miss some or all of the game because of this, I would not be happy. Again, I don't see the upside and I do see some downside.

As I mentioned I like the move. I get home from my seat in about 9 minutes so I'll be able to catch much of the other NKY updates. Still, I would like to know the reason.
