Wright played. Don't know much about Doss but they played pretty good defense whole game.

Doss should be formidable in the 6th.

Are Doss' football players on the court yet?

Scrimmages are scrimmages but i have to admit, i left this one feeling pretty disappointed. Apollo was flat out embarrassed in every phase of the game. Wright was indeed there but it sure seemed like he wasnt. He seemed disinterested. I was told later that he was battling sickness which could explain a lot. It wasnt just Wright though. Aside from Caleb Coomes the entire Apollo team looked dead. Doss looked like they were playing a regional tournament game and Apollo looked like they were playing a pickup game at the Y. I know Apollo is much better than they showed today, but the result was convincing to say the least. Apollo trailed by 7 at half and were outscored 30 something to 4 in the 3rd quarter. Ill try not to read much into the results but Apollo looked terrible at times. Credit some or most of that to Doss. If there are 5 better teams in the state i will be surprised. These dudes are long, fast, strong and can flat shoot the basketball. I came away very impressed. I was told that they have their full compliment of players now and it showed. I was VERY impressed with them. They passed the eye test and even surpassed that once they stepped on the court. I would keep my eye on them going forward.

Not many excuses for a 40 point loss. Thats just a beatdown.

Doss has a TON of talent. 2 of their starters are candidates for region player of the year. Terrel Gray, their football standout, is actually better at basketball. They also have a new coach, Tony Williams, who played for UofL in the early 2000's. Should be a fun year for the Dragons as they are loaded and have majority of their team back who lost to PRP by 1 in the region finals last season.

Excuse my ignorance but isn't Applo a top 5 team in their region? For some reason I was thinking they were right up there with the regions best?? :idunno:

Don't sleep on Apollo. I've had some Apollo folks tell me they did defeat OHS in the finals of the WKU team camp this summer. I think it will take time to sort things out but the talent and coaching are there. I'll still contend that it's likely OHS and Apollo as 1 and 1A in the region. These are 15-17 year old kids that have ups and downs.
