Clyde Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 What rules are in place regarding a football team's ability to practice if school is cancelled? We may see some schools cancel on Monday and possibly Tuesday.

Clyde Posted November 16, 2014 Author Posted November 16, 2014 I am going to guess that they can because it is not mandatory to attend like school, it is an extra curricular activity. Don't some schools not allow games to be played during basketball season if school is cancelled?
doubledeuce Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Don't some schools not allow games to be played during basketball season if school is cancelled? Possible, especially if the school is providing transportation, something Boone County schools do not have to worry about.
CooperSportsFan Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Last year they allowed practices, pretty sure none of the kids would mind practicing.
ThrillVille Cardinal51 Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Wouldn't schools just follow the same rules as basketball season? Idk what those rules are though. Not usually a football issue.
CincySportsFan Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Don't some schools not allow games to be played during basketball season if school is cancelled? Yes, and some have it to where you're not allowed to travel if school has been cancelled that day (leaving you able to host the game, if the visiting team still wants to travel). But, I know several schools that have had basketball practice the same day school has been cancelled...so, I think that football would fall into this scenario.
jcarter Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 My understanding is pratice when school is cancelled is up to each individual school district and what there particular rules are for that district. I know in the past area schools in warren and adjoining counties have held practices when school has been cancelled for weather later in the day for basketball or other sports. Therefore I don't think its an issue of practice is called and school is cancelled tomorrow etc
Knights Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Winter must be in the air. Winter is coming.
Harry Doyle Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 District by district usually. I would hope people allow it and realize how special this is for their schools and communities.
NEERFAN Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Unless things have changed Kenton County does not allow practice.
Sweeperboy Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 It is a district decision. Unless of course you are a private Catholic school... Believe they can do what they want, somebody correct me if I am wrong but they beat to their own drum
RCC9 Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Unless things have changed Kenton County does not allow practice. I think that is the case...that you assume activities are cancelled when school is. But I think they can ask for permission...kinda based on how the day progresses. And I believe it has to be non-mandatory (meaning you can't hold kids that don't come accountable). I think Boone is the same way.
