November 17, 201411 yr I guess technically its labeled as an activity, along with Bass Fishing, Archery and Competitive Cheer. Records on the KHSAA site only go back to 2012. They're considered sanctioned sports by KHSAA.

I remember seeing some banners in Eminence High School gym about them winning 8 man football. How about 6 on 6 womens basketball. Was it played in KY? Remember seeing some of this in Iowa.

Remember seeing some of this in Iowa. My mom played 6-on-6 in Iowa in her HS days. Not aware that it was ever done in Ky.
November 18, 201411 yr I think Oklahoma last played 6 on 6 girls basketball in 1995, don't ever remember Kentucky playing 6 on 6. Pretty sure MMI had a 6 or 8 man football team in the late 90s.
November 18, 201411 yr Do any schools still compete in underwater basket weaving? I believe if you play that in intramural sports at UNC it is good for a few credit hours in your subject of choice.
November 18, 201411 yr Field Hockey for girls? Field Hockey is still a sport in Louisville. I wanted to play in HS. Then I got hit with a line drive by that ball. Off to Glee Clu and Drama Club I went. Sacred Heart and Assumption are HUGE rivals.

Sacred Heart and Assumption are HUGE rivals. I think EKU had field hockey when I was there in the early '70s, and I believe most of their players were from the Louisville area. I may be mistaken though, it could have been an intramural sport.

I'm not sure now since girls soccer has grown, but in the 70's-90's, Field Hockey was THE fall sport for girls to play. Believe it or not, Field Hockey is one of the most popular team sports in the world. And worldwide, it is more of a men's sport than women's sport.
November 18, 201411 yr When we lived in the Indianapolis area, kickball was huge for the Catholic grade schools. It was so much fun for the girls because you did not have to be very athletic to be on the team.
