November 13, 201411 yr This situation happens to me more times than I can count...I'm in the middle (if 3 lanes) or right (if just 2) lane with the cruise set. Up ahead (maybe 1/4 mile or so), there's a semi moving at a slower speed. I check my mirror to see if anybody is in the passing lane to my left, and see a vehicle coming up on me at a pretty decent clip. I decide there's no reason to pull out in front of him/her, they'll be by me fast enough that I'll still have time to pass the semi without having to get out of the cruise control. But, for whatever reason, these people decide to SLOW DOWN and darn near match my speed once they get within 20 feet of me. Then they ride me all the way up to the back of the semi! I've tried putting my turn signal on to let them know I want to get over...but, it never seems to work. Heck you'd think I was driving a similar model vehicle to what the police use...but, it's a freakin' truck! There's no confusing the two!

I'm cruising along (without cruise control) and come up on a car that decides to fluctuate between 65 and 75. There is no way to pass on the right as traffic is heavy around that time so I am stuck fluctuating with the idiot in front of me. All I could think was "BigVMan would be screaming right now."
November 13, 201411 yr My 2009 Focus has cruise control. I always use it on the interstate.So, is Ford's theory that new is less now? 2009 has cruise, 2013 doesn't? Or is that really considered an option by Ford?

Some people are either so distracted they don't know, so silly they don't understand or too rude to even care.

November 13, 201411 yr OK. My cruise control pet peeve is when you have your cruise set, say 77 on 75. Cruising along in the right lane and catch up to a slow moving car and need to get into the middle but can't because some knucklehead is driving at 78. If I'm the guy in the middle and see someone in the situation I described I think 'hey, this guy doesn't want to slow or sit behind the slow car' and I give them that lane by going left or I speed up and get by them so they don't have to slow down. Where has common sense and courtesy gone? Half of those jokers are nose down in their iphone anyway. Should just put the bumper to them (snuck in the nascar reference for ya spindoc). I think it might be because people don't pay enough attention to what is going on around them anymore, particularly behind them.
November 13, 201411 yr I use my cruise control religiously. As soon as I can get it set and use it for an appreciable amount of time, I do it. OBVIOUSLY there are thousands of people, however, that don't, and can't maintain a constant speed without it. I was reminded this morning, just as I am most days...several times a day, of this fact. In the right hand lane on 127 south headed to work, cruise is set on about 61 mph. I easily start to catch up with a Dodge pickup in the right lane. I pull into the left hand lane to pass. No such luck...they speed up a few mph and pull ahead of me. I shrug and come back into the right hand lane. In just a short bit I am again right behind the truck. I again pull into left hand lane...they again speed up. This time I accelerate past them, merge back over, get off the gas and let the cruise settle back to where it was. I now easily stay in front of them, and as a matter of fact it appears they slow way down as I am now pulling away from them quite easily as they fall way behind. Anyone else notice this or have this happen to them often? And who uses their cruise control? Love cruise, would never buy an automobile without it. And yes, I have experienced the same thing you describe. Usually more on I-71 and unfortunately mostly two lanes from Walton to Louisville.

November 13, 201411 yr What REALLY bothers me as well is when I'm using the cruise and come up on a guy/gal in the right lane doing at least 10mph slower and notice they are texting on the phone. Seriously, have they no idea where they are!!?? Edited November 13, 201411 yr by OlDog75 spelling
