Lauren Hill Story From Opponent Perspective

Featured Replies

I noticed the Hiram players a lot. They were overcome with emotion too. This was truly one of those times that shows the best side of sports...and humans.

Sports can teach us so much if we'll let it.

I'm not sure I've read an article or watched a video about Lauren Hill without tearing up. One of the best terribly sad/unfair stories I've ever seen. Yet she's handled herself so amazingly well. Just incredible.

WKYT in Lexington is reporting that Miss Hill has passed away from her battle with Cancer. May she "Rest in Peace", and may God comfort her family during this time.

I've lived 40+ years more than Lauren and have not had, and probably never will have, the impact that she had. Rest in Peace and prayers for her family and friends.

Rest in peace, Lauren Hill. You were a warrior on earth and now an angel in heaven. Sending prayers of comfort to her family and friends.

I'm just aggravated this morning. Such an inspiration. So sad.

Lauren Hill is No. 1 trending on Twitter this morning. Amazing how many people she touched.

Such a sad story, but at least she was able to help give a silver lining with all the awareness and money that she raised. Can't be easy on her family but at least they know she's no longer suffering and in a better place.

Sad day indeed. Still amazes me how a 19 year old girl was able to look a deadly disease straight in the eye and say I am going to fight you to the end. Very courageous and a role model to young and old. What she was able to do in the last year of her life is more than what some do in an entire lifetime. Sure puts things into perspective that is for sure.

Really hope the Reds and other organizations around high school, college and/or professional honor this young lady tonight with a moment of silence because she has certainly earned it.

Having watched people at the terminal stage of cancer struggle to leave the house for an event, I am, and always will be, be amazed at how much she attended and effort she put forth to raise funding for cancer research. That is a strength and drive that is beyond description. RIP #22 .

For a YOUNG person under such incredible pain to have a profound effect on strangers, one has to think that Our Lord had been guiding and walking beside her the entire journey. It's a sad day for those left behind but a wonderful day to rejoice that #22 will be in Heaven getting fitted for those wings.
