Not very pretty. Russell just couldn't generate any offense, and Graves was content in the second half to milk it.

Too much #10 Zach Sims, who didn't even take a shot in the second half, scoring 18 points in pushing his team to a 32-13 halftime lead.

Russell: 9-35 FG, 5-19 3-pt FG, 4-5 FT, 20 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 11 Turnovers

Graves County: 16-30 FG, 2-5 3-pt FG, 8-15 FT, 23 rebounds, 11 assists, 9 steals, 12 turnovers. Only 5 personal fouls.

Sounds like this one was over at halftime.

First time a team failed to score 30 points in the Sweet 16 game since Seneca beat Oldham County 44-29 in the 1963 semifinals. It's the lowest output by a team since St. Xavier beat Dunbar 44-25 in the second round of the 1958 Sweet 16 at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington.

Can't say I'm shocked.....

Graves certainly will have to shoot better at the FT line to have any chance Friday afternoon, but overall their stat line is solid....

Russell shot 25 percent, nasty......

Ouch!

I knew Russell would have their hands full, and that there was the potential for a very low offensive showing (Greenup 36, Russell 24).

Look for lots of 16th Region bashing, especially if Graves County has a bad game next time out.

Good win for Graves...Sims was a huge player in this game...Coach Hatcher is the master at juicing the clock til he gets a layup. Congrats to the Eagles whom I feel have a great chance to upset South Laurel or John Hardin. Nice win for Region 1...Vanhoose only having 10pts did in Russell...Graves is a good team and congrats to Russell.

If Sims, Cavette, and King stay out of foul trouble I like their chances Friday!

This is exactly why the rest of the state laughs when we try to hype a player. It just doesn't fly. In the 16th, you can take an average player, even average frosh and soph players, and be a legend out this way. The talent disparity is off the charts. If a player in the 6th, 7th, or 11th averaged 10 points a game in their respective region then transferred to the 16th, they would average 40 a game. This is just a fact, not bashing.
