I was reading intently, buying into everything... until I see Pikeville scoring 31 in the championship game against Mayfield. :no:

Frankfort is my team for this bracket.

Heard this story before Williamsburg will be there again, might not be able to hang with Mayfield but they will beat Pikeville.

Based on Franklin County I like Beechwood by a lot.

I would judge Frankfort on the Franklin County game. They spend a lot more hours preparing for Beechwood than they do Franklin County.

 

But I think BW should be a 28 point favorite.

No serious BW is the favorite as they should be. My point is Frankfort has never been the same team at week for that they are in week 13 of the season. Just like I expect BW to be better.

I'll believe it when I see it, these same Pikeville players lost by 2td's to Raceland last year, so I'd worry about beating them before I worried about beating the Burg senseless. Wburg is as good or better at every position this year as last year and as the playoff's proved they were far and away the best small school in the East last year, this year will be no different.

I disagree with this statement. I think if Burg played Raceland at home last year, it would have been a different ball game. I really don't know if Raceland would have beat them, but I think it would have been a closer game. And if there happens to be a rematch this year, you will see why once it happens.

 

I still do believe Williamsburg is a good team and should definitely never be overlooked, but I am not sold on them as much as I was last year.

Enjoying all the post. Just love how awesome 1A football is this year! Would love to see some of those teams from the east.

 

Can't say enough about how much I admire the job Joe Morris and staff do at Mayfield. As a McCracken fan I was disappointed how they came out strong against Mayfield then let them back in the game. I was evaluating the game afterward and thought our players/coaches just don't know how to put a game away against a good opponent. Now, after seeing the MHS/Caldwell game, I went back and thought more about it all. I give credit to coach Morris and staff on the adjustments they make, and it was more about that than McCracken having a let up. It never ceases to amaze me how well they adjust to their opponent. I've had cousins that played at Mayfield all the way back to the Jack Morris days. Do I dare say Joe has matched his father as a coach? Good luck Cardinals!!

This Williamsburg team has played Raceland twice as far as this group of kids go once in 8th grade on a neutral field and last year at Williamsburg. Both games Williamsburg won convincingly, I'm sure it would've been closer at Raceland but I don't think the outcome would've changed and I don't see it changing this year either if Williamsburg takes their games in the east seriously. Hazard was the toughest team Williamsburg played from the east last year by far.
