November 4, 201411 yr In No Order... Bon Jovi and Cinderella...Knoxville, last night Cinderella was with them...both bands came out for about 5 songs after Bon Jovi's encore was over. Van Halen and Alice in Chains...at Deer Creek north of Indy...my wife's first real concert Kiss and Aerosmith (KISS was Beyond Great, Aerosmith sucked)...in Louisville at Freedom Hall Brooks and Dunn (New Years Eve in Nashville)...Downtown arena...surprisingly great concert! Garth Brooks...Rupp Arena (Saturday) Other Greats Conway Twitty...Tombstone Junction Loretta Lynn...Tombstone Junction Jerry Reed...(Crazy good guitar player)...Tombstone Junction Van Halen and BTO

November 4, 201411 yr Wanda Jackson at Goose on the Lake - she is amazing. Came in on her RV, rocked the field for several hours then signed personalized autographs for several more Jason Isbell at Headliners (solo) - he sat down with his acoustic guitar, played songs told stories, and laughed for about three hours. Headliners was seating for his show. V-Roy's Reunion Show at Southgate House - Jim told me at many concerts he wished I could see them. When he heard of this he immediately sent a text. A large BGP contingent went and the rest is history. Justin Townes Earle in Nashville - it was a few days after Thanksgiving and his first show back from rehab. I had watched his last show before going into rehab which was quite sad. Such a positive atmosphere and a long night of great music and awesome cameos. Isbell and his now wife were part of his backing band that night. Goose Creek Symphony at Goose on the Lake - I went to the festival to watch Justin a Townes Earle. I had absolutely no idea who they were. I've been to the festival almost every year since then to see them. Awesome band, BEST festival atmosphere ever, and a bunch of friends you never knew you had.
November 4, 201411 yr I saw (well, I was there) when Jimi Hendrix played a concert in Cincinnati Gardens in 1968-9 or so. I really didn't know who he was but I went with a friend from New York who knew about him--we were students at UK at the time. Also, while in college or shortly afterwards, we saw Jerry Lee Lewis at a bar in Richmond, KY (was it called Specks or something like that?) where we could peer into the dressing room and see him swigging from what appeared to be a bottle of whiskey. We were fans of his. This was a couple of years before the Killer regained some of his popularity. That's about it for me----obviously not a big concert guy.

Guns, Great White - Rock Never Stops Tour 1999 (Riverbend) Great White kicked "donkey"! Jack Russell has one hell of a voice.:notworthy: Alabama - (Riverfront Coliseum) Was a stage-hand, I have never seen some many hot chicks at one concert, before or after, I don't get it. :idunno: Plus, they put on one hell of a show.....and I HATE country music. Journey, Peter Frampton, & John Waite - 2001 (Riverbend) Like hitting a trifecta. EVERY Night Ranger concert.

November 5, 201411 yr David Bowie. Tour he did using a 900 number to play fans requests. 4 rows back. Neil Young. Acoustical . Front row. Springsteen-- saw him so many times. All but one were great. Best seats 3 rows back, with back stage passes ( never got to meet him). Meatloaf. Puts on a great show. Sat in front row for half the show, other half was about 20 rows back. Kansas, sounded just like the album. Festival seating, about 10 rows up on the side. Seats do matter. Saw Buffett several times from a distance, loved him when I was up close. More talented than I thought he was.

November 5, 201411 yr All of these were part of the World Series of Rock concerts at Cleveland stadium. Floyd was and probably still is the most amazing thing I've ever been to. The rest are in order by date, because I liked them all pretty equally. June 25, 1977 - Pink Floyd August 6, 1977 - The J. Geils Band - Peter Frampton - Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band July 1, 1978 - Kansas - Peter Tosh - The Rolling Stones July 15, 1978 - Foreigner - Journey - Electric Light Orchestra August 26, 1978 - The Cars - Eddie Money - Bob Welch - Todd Rundgren & Utopia - Fleetwood Mac July 28, 1979 - Scorpions - Thin Lizzy - Journey - Ted Nugent - Aerosmith - AC/DC That is an incredible group of acts. During that time, I'm not sure you could have seen a better collection of bands. I had no idea this was even a thing. Good for Cleveland to somehow put this string of shows together. That said, based on what I know about the old Stadium, I doubt there were many good seats.

At that point in time Cleveland was the rock n roll capital of the world. WWWS was the the top rock station in the country, and every act that was an act came through Cleveland. The fisrt WS of R concert was June 23, 1974: Joe Walsh and Barnstorm REO Speedwagon Lynyrd Skynyrd The Beach Boys The Pink Floyd concert was the 8th WS of R concert at the stadium, and the only one that had only one band. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 86,000 people there. There was one more in 1980, but I had left for college and couldn't make it. It was: Eddie Money The J. Geils Band Def Leppard Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band I loved J.Geils Band back in the day. The Blow Your Face Out show was fantastic.
