Do you realize that St. X has a chance to be the #1 seed in Ohio's DI Region 2? Maybe not accidental, by a well devised game plan for the "Battle of North Bend Road"

 

Yes I do and I know that the GCL is a monster every year. Using the word accidental may have been a bit exaggerated, I just believe that LaSalle is that good this season.

Watched this on live, online and have to say LaSalle looked awesome.

 

I was really excited to see them play again and win.

So GCL could take DI and DII. That won't make the public supporters happy.

 

GCL North has strong a very strong title contender in Alter in DIV as well. McNick is in the mix to make a nice run in DIV too. Same region as Alter, but they could beat anyone in the region other than the Knights.

 

LaSalle has a heck of a shot at the DII crown. In DI, I think it would be a stretch to see a GCL school win the title this year. In fact, a Dayton school could very well come out of region 2.

 

If the GCL wins state titles in DI, DII, and DIV in the same year, I'm not sure what would be worse: the grumbling from public schools around the state about unfair advantage, or the all time high on the arrogance meter GCL supporters would reach.

LaSalle, Moe, and X, share the GCL with 2-1 records. X is all but a lock to be crowned city champion when this week's coaches poll is released. I didn't see that coming in September.

 

Elder goes 0-3 in conference play. I do think they are the worst of the four schools, but I doubt anyone really wants to play them in the first round of the playoffs. Looks like the Panthers will be heading to either Dayton or the Columbus area for round one, while Moeller and X should host. Not positive on Moe though, need a Lakota v Lakota score.

It is a shame that Nippert Stadium cannot be used for playoff games this year. Always great to see the games there (although I do need to invent goalposts that are adjustable).

Heard the Larkin kid of Lasalle is getting some D1 looks. 28 TD's and over 1,500 yards rushing. averages over 8.0 per carry. Returns kick offs and punts as well.

I still believe that LaSalle's loss to St. X was accidental.

 

X beat LaSalle on their home field and ran through a brutal schedule by losing two games. One in triple overtime. I am not sure there are any accidents on their schedule.

LaSalle is very good, they were good last year and will be good next. Can't wait to watch them vs Mt Healthy down the line, should be a battle. GCL just isn't as strong as it's been in the past. Trust me, that still makes them one of best conferences in state, but relatively speaking I'm not sure there is a threat to win the big school title.

Who do you have winning the big school title? I would say one of the GCL schools is just as likely as anyone else.

Who is a threat to win the big school title then? D1 is WIDE OPEN this year. There may not be great team in Ohio D1 this year but there about 7-10 very good teams that could win it. Elder was 0-3 in the GCL but beat St. Ed's, a perennial power that was ranked #1 in the state at the time but has since taken a step backwards. X beat St. Ignatius this year, another perennial D1 power - this playoff is up for grabs...
