October 31, 201411 yr Got the candy in bowls for the trick or treaters---already finding candy wrappers all over the house. Dang mice. My sister's birthday is on Halloween. My mom always sewed our costumes, never bought them. I remember picking out the Simplicity patterns and fabric for it. My mom was a first grade teacher and she wore her witch costume to school every year, that she made, of course. We always got a ton of candy in a very short time growing up. Military base housing with apartments. Lots of up and down stairs, but it still did not take long to fill the pillow case. Why can't witches get pregnant? :sarcastic: Just one trick or treater in my house this year. Look out for the white Ninja! I think it's totally fine for high schoolers to go trick or treating. It's better than a lot of other things they could be doing. And I always have plenty of candy left over.
October 31, 201411 yr There used to be a Ft. Mitchell Halloween Costume Contest each year. Judging was held at the Children's Home on Orphanage Road in the festival barn. There was an overall winner by age group, as well as a scariest costume award, most creative, etc. My parents made a deal with each other that their children would always win, and that they would always hand-make our costumes instead of buying them. My brothers and I each won at least one of the awards every year every year we competed.

Among other things, there's the fact that my dad made an ACTUAL metal edged sword for the pirate costume we all wore around age 6. That sucker was sharp! There was also a not-so-politically correct "Chinaman" costume, as well as a terrorist costume, complete with a toy AK-47 and an explosive vest. I think the pictures of our costumes from those childhood Halloweens could pretty easily lose us any political race if any of my brothers or I ever decided to run for office.
October 31, 201411 yr Here is a pic of my great nephews & niece in their Halloween costumes. A couple of notes: Bad Baby 123 is the brother to the policeman, Minnie Mouse has blue lips due to eating a blue sucker & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle is watching out for his little sis.:)

October 31, 201411 yr When I was young, on one Halloween, I got shot in the mouth (from the side) by a toy arrow from a kid in an Indian costume. Not pretty...blood all over the place...trip to doctor for tetanus shot.
October 31, 201411 yr Danny Lloyd - who played Jack & Wendy Torrance's son Danny in The Shining - used to teach biology at ECTC in Elizabethtown.
October 31, 201411 yr When I was a kid we lived in Newport and there was this one house a block or so away that did a little mini haunted house. The haunted house thing was so so but they always made fresh, hot carmel corn and put it in baggies for kids instead of giving candy. It smelled so good but my parents never let me touch the stuff. Still slightly bitter about that.
October 31, 201411 yr I saw these on Reddit. A couple of weathermen having fun with the green screen.
