Maine state police dispatched to back nurse's quarantine

 

Nurse says she will not comply with quarantine. What say you? How do you feel about her comments and the decision of the governor in Maine?

It's tough. I want someone who may potentially be carrying a communicable deadly disease to stay away from other people, but the constitutional basis for quarantine is murky at best.

I would perhaps feel differently if she were exhibiting any symptoms. She has not and is being forced to play a prop in a rather authoritarian political show to satisfy a hyperventilating media. This is all theatrics, as far as I can tell.

Probably a different thread, but I would feel differently if the government organization would start by being too conservative with protective dress, procedures, etc........instead of being too lenient and having to apply stricter regs as the information comes in.....

IF I thought for one second she could potentially be a carrier, I'd have her rearend duct taped down until she was back in quarantine and wouldn't remove the duct tape until she complied.

When I am world czar anyone refusing quarantine who comes down with it is on their own, no treatment.

All of the experts say there is no risk for transmission if you are not exhibiting symptoms. I don't blame her, it's political grandstanding not rooted in medical or scientific fact. I'm also willing to bet that if she was exhibiting symptoms she would submit to the quarantine.

On the selfish/self-centered comments, she just finished treating very needy people in West Africa. From the article:

 

Many in Fort Kent have commended Hickox's efforts in West Africa, but have expressed fear. Hickox's has been receiving death threats on social media and anger about her not following the quarantine.
