Who says you can't still play the local teams that will play you like now, just add a bowl game to the season. You know you will get at least one playoff game at home. That should make at least 5 games right there counting playoffs.

Antics are different, but I liken Matney to Marksberry at SK. Play easy schedule, get a bunch of wins in the regular season and then win a playoff game or two. No need to play tough teams because the quarters or semi's is as far as you're going to get anyway. Keep some interest in the program, because we're winning. Hope that maybe one day the stars align, the earth turns on it's axis and the sun freezes for a day and we'll win a state title. Or in JC's case, wait for Highlands and CovCath to move to 5A.

 

And Boyle and Lex Cath to move to 3A.

I would say JC can feel fairly certain they will have two home playoff games almost every year especially with the new alignment.

 

I would say an average of 6 home playoff games is pretty much a given. They will continue to play Belfry home and home.

 

In addition we aren't talking about Greenup County or Boyd County with an average home attendance of 650. JC is drawing probably 2000+ every home game with 3000+ for the big games. They make more in one average home game than a lot of other 4A teams will make in all 5 of their home games combined. I would think JC could cover most of their bills with 3-4 home games. Everything over that is surplus.

While it is true that Highlands has dominated Johnson Central since it joined the region, the same cannot be said of Covington Catholic. If Johnson Central does not beat Covington Catholic this season, then it will be because of youth, not because of its weak schedule. JC ended the Colonels' 2008, 2009, and 2010 seasons.

 

JC will be very strong for the next few years, and if the Golden Eagles win a state title, it will not not necessarily be because Covington Catholic and Highlands moved up to 5A, although obviously some NKY fans are already trying to make that case preemptively. :lol:

Anyone know the history of Johnson Central football? Maybe the people of Paintsville are happy with how things are going the last ten years. Id like to see them play a better schedule as well but most years the teams that knock them out have just been much better teams. I guess this website wont be happy until the Eagles go 10-0 with ten road wins against ranked teams. Id like to see Cov. Cath and JC keep playing every year but Im sure JC would commit a BGP sin and require a home game every other year. Anyone from CC that wants the athletic directors phone number can Pm me, lets make it happen.

It isn't like we aren't trying to beef up the schedule next season or have in the past. I know of an individual that has reached out to around 20-25 ADs asking for their varsity's open dates for next season but he has yet to get a response. The schools that have been contacted regarding their listed open dates on other states sites or through ListServ seem to have filled them rather quickly, didn't respond or have said they weren't interested. I had no idea teams fill schedules this early in advance. Maybe that is their problem, that they wait too long to finalize a schedule thus leading in their current situation.

Maybe JC could schedule a Christopher Columbus type team from Florida to get ready for the playoffs every year instead of the smaller out of state teams from Pennsylvania or teams from Canada.

IMO it is an unknown. With the schedule JC has had it is hard to tell just how good they are or can be. I've learned to never say never though.

 

They are the Simon Kenton of the mountains. Schedule just tells us nothing except they can trounce average to below average teams.

The school I am a fan of had their 15-16 schedules finished in June this year.

With all the talk about JC only wanting a home and home series with an opponents, but can't seem to get an agreement with anyone. Real quick question for all the JC followers here. Did you all get a home and home series with Fairlands, Ohio, Philadelphia Martery Charter PA and Lutheran East of Cleveland Ohio??? If so then JC is willing to travel 68 miles, 570 miles and 360 miles. Or is it just a one way trip for those teams to Paintsville? It's kinda hard to believe that those teams only agreed to travel to Paintsville without a return game to their home school. Makes us wonder.

Excuses. I'm sure Trinity X BG Highlands Cov Cath Boyle Lex Cath Mayfield Lou Central Beechwood NCC Tighman and many others who play tough schedules/who play bowl games are just losing money left and right and can't pay the bills.:ohbrother:

 

If you like winning some games and "paying the bills" then keep doing what you're doing. If you want more, you have to change.
