Does anyone else wish it would be more than a 4 team playoff?

I like 4, could live with 8, but wouldn't want any more than that.

I just think if you go to 8, you'll have 2-3 teams with zero chance.

Of course, as it sits now, the hardest thing for the committee to decide is which of the 4 SEC West teams gets left out. :D

The attendance at early round NCAA tournament basketball games by fans of teams that aren't very close by suggests to me that it's just not true. If the tournament expands, they're going to have real difficulty selling tickets at neutral sites.

You'd have a few top teams that sell tickets and several early games being played in front of some pretty sparse crowds. They're either going to have to work on how they do this or simply decide that the big gains in TV money are all that matters and just say "to heck with attendance."

But those are at neutral sites. Do you think Alabama/FSU/Oregon/Ohio State/Texas/etc. would not sell out at home, even if they were "just" playing a Boise State/BYU/East Carolina/etc.? I can't even fathom a situation like that.

And that's what we're talking about here.

My original premise is that they either have to keep it small or start doing it at home sites as they expand to more rounds. Of course they can sell tickets at home sites. As of now, they're keeping around the bowl games as this playoff expands which would mean continuing neutral site games.

Okay, I understand you now. I thought you were alluding to the 16 team scenario I had mentioned earlier. (And with it, no bowl games for the first two rounds).

I'd love to see an expanded playoff and the bowls finally done away with completely because I don't understand their purpose.

I want the expanded playoff because of that occasional year like in Div. I-AA a couple years ago where an unseeded Richmond team that was -- I think -- No. 9 in FCS when the playoffs started ended up getting hot and rolling to the championship.

Even if one of those teams doesn't WIN the title, you have years in FCS where unseeded teams at least make a run to the last four or even the title game and isn't that the reason we all claim we love the NCAA's basketball postseason?

On this, we agree.

16 is too many games won't work with injuries. 4 is prob the sweet spot and creates a "final 4." Let's see how it goes first.

Way too many, it'll never work  like the 16 team playoff FCS teams have had for DECADES. How many get in in d-3 now 32?

Yes, I think 8-16 would be much better. I know Marshall plays an awful schedule, but is it their fault that no Power 6 conference would pick them up? The Herd will most likely finish undefeated this year and will still be on the outside looking in and I hate that. I feel if you win all of your games you at least deserve a chance.

Dont like more than 4 , that might allow b!G Tin teams in .

Ten is spelled ten. And you're defying your own logic with that statement, since 95% of your post are about how bad the B10 is.

8 teams is perfect. Not too big. Not too small. Especially in a year like this when it is clear that the number 8 team is good enough to win the title.

16 is too many. You'll never convince me that the #16 team in the nation deserves a chance to be the champion.

With PP92 on this one. I don't think there are EVER more than 8 teams who could lay some claim they are the best college football team. And in any given year probably no more than 4 or 5, if that. But, if you did an 8 team playoff, at least then any team who might could possibly have an argument would be in there. If some team missed an 8 team playoff and tried to argue they belonged...well lets just say that would be a fun argument to listen to.

Actually, I'd have no problem doing 6 teams, seeding them, top 2 teams get a bye the first weekend and getting a champion in that way.

Tin is spelled Tin . its a weak metal kinda like the b!G is a weak conference. Legends and Leaders -- LOL
