Kentucky Class 4A Football Rankings for 10-20

Highlands had one of the best HS football coaches, then was replaced by another great coach that hasn't missed a beat. I might not be as close to the HHS program that I would like to be, but I have not heard a negative comment from anyone about the new coach. Come to think of it, I haven't heard coach Mueller's name since the 100 year banquet.

There really isn't that much difference between this years team and the ones a few years back. If you want to talk about D1 players, Highlands has had some, but not as many as people think. This years team has the heart and soul of teams past with maybe a little more effort to get where they needed to be. HHS has been improving every game and will be a tough out in the playoffs. The HHS two's is the only difference because I FEEL that they lack game experience.

This is true. HHS wins as a team. They are not blessed with D1 talent every year. Its a system. And in that system, it does allow for some to excel and get some exposure. IF HHS has D1 talent each year, it's usually no more than one...maybe two. But with Hoge, this year is no different. He is getting D1 looks...the same as others have in the past. So in my opinion, the only thing that is different was the experience at the beginning of the year and the depth that still needs some development.

The comical part of this thread to me is that I have maintained throughout that Highlands can and may very well win the 5A title. I've said they are one of the top two in 5A...but that's not good enough. I think that kind of fanaticism to be "the absolute best" is a big part of why Highlands is so good every year.

You are right!

I see no chance Highlands wins 5A this year. They're just not that good in 5A.

Dang! Is FT Highlands that good that they can win class 4A and 5A in the same season? LOL

No problem as long as the games are on different days.

My bad...I meant 4A...and no, Highlands would have no shot against BG this year.

You're entitled to your opinion. Even if it's wrong.

And you are entitled to yours which has shown to be...uhh....an opinion in this thread.

Good point. And likely true.

Just calling it how I see it. I think a lot of people are underestimating this Highlands team because a couple Highlands supporters/posters have said they're not as good or deep as some previous years. Add that to the "they aren't winning with a running clock" like they did last year. I'm of the opinion that Highlands can compete with and beat any team in the state.

We know, we know BG is the class of the state because you say so and we should just take that as gospel.

People think and say Highlands is down this year, but the same can be said about BG.

Those that haven't seen Highlands play seem to be very opinionated about what they can or can't do. The next month should be very interesting.

I realize they've only fallen to number 6 but I get the impression that people are forgetting about Boyle Co. I think that is a mistake.

No. Everybody but you says BG would beat Highlands. You should take THAT as gospel. I can't wait until next year. Welcome back. Things are different this time around.

For all the offseason talk of Chuck Smith and Boyle County, they really have fallen off the radar this year. There hasn't been a ton of discussion about the Rebels and their loss to Lexington Catholic pushed them further from discussion. I agree with you, I think the Rebels will be a tough out come postseason.

We'll never know.

Things are different? Oh that's right, BG won a title or two when Highlands left. Johnson Central will probably win a title or two when Highlands leaves 4A.

We can talk more about next year later this year.

We are going to fully healthy coming into the playoffs and that's the first time I can say that since the Anderson game.
