Kentucky Class 4A Football Rankings for 10-20

Featured Replies

I realize they've only fallen to number 6 but I get the impression that people are forgetting about Boyle Co. I think that is a mistake.

I never assume Boyle to be out of the running. It's easy to say no respect. In my opinion LC has played a tougher schedule than Boyle and beat Boyle by two possessions and no one has raised LC in any polls. And that's okay. I think polls are great when you are up high and we frown and complain when we are undervalued.

If I could change one thing I would have LC at 3 and Boyle at 4

That's not entirely true. I believe that LC was 9th or 10th when they played Boyle County. Maybe 8th. Boyle County was 2nd. After LC beat Boyle I believe LC moved up to 5th and Boyle to 6th. I don't think neither has moved since but LC rightfully leapfroged Boyle County after their victory.

We'll never know.

Things are different? Oh that's right, BG won a title or two when Highlands left. Johnson Central will probably win a title or two when Highlands leaves 4A.

We can talk more about next year later this year.

True. I'll be waiting.

...I'm of the opinion that Highlands can compete with and beat any team in the state...

Any team eh?

Like, say, Trinity?

The same Trinity that has two losses to KY teams?

...People think and say Highlands is down this year, but the same can be said about BG. ...

Uh, no. BG has destroyed everyone they were supposed to destroy. They have also beaten the #2 team in 4A, the #3 team in 5A, and the #2 team in 6A. Their only loss was on a last-second-come-from-behind drive by the #2 Division II school out of TN. So nah, your logic doesn't hold up.

So a team can't be relatively down and still not beat everyone's brains in?

IMHO, there are four or five teams in the state, that even in their down years, have a way better chance of winning a championship than dozens of teams do in their once in a lifetime UP years.

You're awfully late to the party...your beef with my post is essentially the point I have been selling this entire thread.

So BG's not down compared to last year or the year before? Could have sworn I've read that on here a few times. Looks like Owensboro gave them a game. I guess they weren't suppose to destroy O.

But I see what you're saying, Highlands is automatically ruled out(overlooked) because they haven't played this team or that team(#2 team in 4A, the #3 team in 5A, and the #2 team in 6A). Your logic makes complete sense.

You're failing to read the whole thread...go back and show me where ANYONE has "ruled Highlands out" in terms of 5A?

...now in terms of the rest of the state, then yeah, I would rule Highlands out against T, X, Male, and BG...that's not a knock, heck, that's like 4 out of 240+ teams. Would I rule BG out against any of those teams? no, and I don't think anyone on here would.

...so is BG down from last year? YES. From 2012 or 2011, no, probably not due to the strength of BG's front 7 on D this year. So, I guess we're both correct in our statements in a way.

How about that?

Yet you rule out Owensboro's chances with that same logic.

I laugh at these posts because the same person on every thread is the one under fire.

I've got a text from another poster(who I respect and love to hassle) that says Highlands is out for the next 4 years in 5A.

Why is Highlands out against T, X, Male and BG? Because of a scrimmage in the beginning of the year? No chance they got better and could compete with those 4 schools now. Makes perfect sense.

I've explained that already.

I'm just taking up the cause today. I'm in an argumentative mood, so it's a good stress relief. The regular Highlands posters will be on later and either support me or take the high road.

Believe that's only happened 4-5 times since the playoffs began in 1959. I like our odds.

1. Highlands vs. Cincinnati Elder (OH)

2. Owensboro vs. Hopkins County Central

3. Johnson Central vs. #10 Ashland

4. Madisonville-North Hopkins vs. 2A #7 Murray

5. Lexington Catholic vs. Marion County

6. Boyle County vs. Mercer County

7. Knox Central vs. Russell County

8. Franklin-Simpson at Allen County-Scottsville

9. Covington Catholic at Holmes

10. Ashland at #3 Johnson Central

Cov Cath a top 10 team? Is 4A that weak? Cov Cath doesn't pass the eye test.
