I hear what everyone is saying about Dixie, they are good, really good, but Highlands holds a mental advantage over all the other teams in NKY that is worth about 10 points.

They have not had the chance to play since other programs avoid them. That all charges next year. The True best team in NKY will be decided on the field.

Okay. i was at the game last night and it's the first time I've seen Dixie this year but the second time I've seem SK. I was impressed with Dixie last night and they were clearly the better team. But let me ask this. Is Dixie really good or is SK just not as good as all the hype. Did we just all fall victim to the hype train and everyone was telling us they were good, so they must be good! I've been asking all year "how do we know SK is any good" and the answer is, we didn't. They tried to blow off the rule and Boone games as "just played bad and still won" well now what? We all know their schedule and now Dixie dominates them. Maybe they just arn't good. I have seen them twice and the best way for me to describe them is the have a few really nice players and an up and coming young QB that will be good. Outside of that, I see a slow team that relies on their playmakers to make plays. If you contain a few, this is the result.

 

So Im not trying to tarnish Dixie's win and it's the reason I didn't post it last night, but if SK isn't that good, how do we know Dixie is? Why do we feel Dixie is primed for a run? They are still one dimensional, play a lot of kids both ways and do they have a signature win or game that tells us they are ready? Yes, they have a stud at the helm and I was very impressed with him. But good teams with good team speed will contain him at some point. Then what?

 

Please don't mistake this as hounding on Dixie. I truly am interested. Because I want to believe. That's what the SK fans didn't understand. People wanted to like a good team, but need some convincing before they buy in. And SK wanted to tell us all how good they were. I don't think he hates SK. I think he is tired of listening to a couple blow hards that get on here week after week pumping SK up. SK has done nothing of any substance this year but we hear how great they are....... blah blah blah. Last night should give a wakeup call to these couple of SK supporters. Start playing someone and beating them then start beating your chest!I have nothing against SK either. It just makes it really hard to root for them when you read a bunch of garbage every week!! I am in total agreement with RCC9. SK has a few nice athletes with speed but the overall team speed is not good. :thumb:

I have not seen Dixie play so maybe someone could help me out with a few answers to these questions. I have heard a lot about how great Dixie's offensive and defensive lines are. How many of these linemen play both ways? Also, how many players overall for Dixie play both ways? I am surprised that a 6A school would have that many players going both ways. Second, is Dixie one dimensional (basically all run) or did they go one dimensional last night because it was working so well (if SK cannot stop the run...smash it down their throat).

 

Also, it is sooooooo dangerous to use comparative scores in these debates. I know when teams have not played each other you really don't have much else to go by. However, teams get better or worse during the year, they never stay the same. Also injuries are such a major factor. I am not a CCH fan but I still believe that if they did not have some crippling injuries to key players, they would be the second best team in NKY. But they did and right now, they are not.

Dixie stopped playing HHS a few years ago...too bad because I think a lot of people in NKY would like to see them play this year...and I am sure HHS would rather play Dixie and Simon Kenton than Paducah Tilghman, Bryan Station and Warren Central.

I'm not jumping on the Dixie bandwagon...I asked them the EXACT same question I asked the SK fans...How do we know they are good?? So if anything, it should show you that it's not just SK that I ask and bring up topics of discussion about. It's the reaction of SK fans whenever you "question" anything about their team. God forbid that every comment isn't "kissing butt" and maybe it's a challenging question. That's the difference between SK and other fan bases is others will discuss and give insightful answers and SK fans fight and label you a hater.

 

Why in the world would I have any reason to hate SK??? Please fill me in. I don't like the reactions of some of the fans that feel SK is flawless and feel NOTHING should EVER be said to challenge them.

 

Just a couple posts up, I ask the same question of Dixie fans and someone interprets that as me hating on SK. Guess what, it's not all about SK anymore. Your definition of success or what is good will differ than many. Providing perspective is key. Realize Dixie Heights is a team that for two consecutive seasons went 3-8 prior to last years 8-4 team. Considering we are now 7-1, have beaten an sk team who beat us twice last year, and continue to improve weekly and execute...progress continues to be made in the Dixie Heights camp.

 

As a Highlands fan your gauge of what is good realistically is skewed compared to most...:lol2: State titles, tradition, complete program buy in minus a few critics internally. We've discussed this previously. We Dixie Heights Colonels will not go over-the-top with propaganda and chest beating to promote our team. There is no need for me as a parent, fan, and team advocate to substantiate our "goodness." Buy a ticket, come witness for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

 

We're simply mindful, thankful, and honored to see a great group of kids excel, grow, and prepare for future success on and off the field. Coach Brossart and his staff have been a blessing to these kids and vice versa. Go Dixie Heights Colonels...:thumb:
