Your definition of success or what is good will differ than many. Providing perspective is key. Realize Dixie Heights is a team that for two consecutive seasons went 3-8 prior to last years 8-4 team. Considering we are now 7-1, have beaten an sk team who beat us twice last year, and continue to improve weekly and execute...progress continues to be made in the Dixie Heights camp.

As a Highlands fan your gauge of what is good realistically is skewed compared to most...:lol2: State titles, tradition, complete program buy in minus a few critics internally. We've discussed this previously. We Dixie Heights Colonels will not go over-the-top with propaganda and chest beating to promote our team. There is no need for me as a parent, fan, and team advocate to substantiate our "goodness." Buy a ticket, come witness for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

 

We're simply mindful, thankful, and honored to see a great group of kids excel, grow, and prepare for future success on and off the field. Coach Brossart and his staff have been a blessing to these kids and vice versa. Go Dixie Heights Colonels...:thumb:

 

 

I agree and we have talked about it. And I'm not comparing success to HHS. They are the second winningest program in the country. Not many are going to be there.

 

I'm saying, how do we know they are good. Because I'm a HHS guy, everyone translates that into me comparing them to HHS. It has nothing to do with that. They don't play each other and they it makes no difference who is better. And I'm not asking about Dixie's success. I'm basically saying, are they good and can they realistically make a run. If we believe that they can make a run this year (and I saw a lot of those comments and not even for Dixie fans), why do we think they can? Has nothing to do with HHS and nothing to do with past success. I told you I love what Dixie is doing and would love to see exactly what happened last night...the changing of the guard...at least for this year.

 

I love how the Dixie fans have sat back and basically said we'll do our talking on the field. That's how it should be! But like it or not, now the attention is on the Dixie.

I don't think anyone will question that Dixie is clearly better than Simon Kenton at this point. On the other side, I also wouldn't say that Simon Kenton is a bad team. One thing that I do agree with is that the Pioneers definitely need to schedule tougher teams outside of district play, which I know will begin next season. When you are trying to win a district in 6A and make a run at state, playing teams like Holy Cross won't cut it. They could still play a couple of games against smaller schools such as New Cath, Beechwood, etc., but there should be at least two or three tougher games against teams no weaker than Cov Cath, Lex Cath, Boyle, etc. Maybe even play a good team from Ohio. If they do this, I believe their chances of being better and more prepared improves significantly.

So this comment starts to answer my question. This statement means you feel Dixie can play with Bryan Station (who just beat Scott County) and could be ranked in the top 10 of Florida's largest class? I know, here we go again RCC9, comparing to the Birds. No, this is the first indication that someone has shown that Dixie may be on the level of competing downstate. If someone feels Dixie can compete with a team (HHS) that has played with or beat two teams that could clearly win KY 6A this year, then it's one way of thinking Dixie may be able to make noise.

Okay, Dixie fans...still curious about the Cov Cath game. I was talking to a Dixie fan at the game last night and we were talking about this. He didn't have enough "inside info" to provide a ton of insight.

 

I know Cov Cath scored on two returned kicks and I know it's kind of a rival and I know it was the first game and I know that a lot of Dixie fans feel it was kind of a fluke and bad game and it shouldn't have been the bad. I get all that and will agree. But the two things I wonder is...if you take away the two returns, the score was still like 27-7. That's a 3td win without the returns happening. And Dixie only scored 7 points. So forgetting about the returns, why do Dixie fans feel the outcome would be different and was Dixie running a different offense at the time? Serious questions.

I didn't get to see the game but from what I understand about it Dixie got away from their game plan after the two returns. They tried to pass their way back into it and that's not how they are built. Trying to go aerial just allowed the gap to get bigger which I'm sure had an effect on the players.

I put some details behind this in another thread. To summarize, yes, Dixie pretty much ran a different offense. They threw the ball too much and didn't run it enough. That game helped Dixie figure out what they need to do on offense and the Beechwood game the next week proved it to the team and coaches. They are a run first team and no matter what the score is, keep running it. As Brossart said last night, if they throw it 10 times in a game it will be hard for them to win. Versus CCH, Moore was 6-22. Recipe for disaster for Dixie. They know better now.

I actually believe the teams listed in the original post beat the other teams listed because mostly of matchups.

 

I I think except for the CCH game with the 2 kick returns to start the game all the other matchups would endore times than not the way the first games went.i believe Beechwood beats CCH 9 out of 10 times. I believe SK beats Cooper 9 out of 10 times and I believe Cooper beats Ryle 9 out of 10 times soley because of matchups.
