What is up with Henry hosting the region??? I was amazed at how antiquated the whole situation is.

 

I can't believe they try to pass sound throught that white reflector throughout the whole cavernous place!! I thought the announcer did a better job in the finals than in the earlier games.

 

 

I also noticed they played no music???

 

 

I was told that the only time they won the 8th was the year the place was built 1962.

 

Talk about a storyline like "Hoosiers" if the were to ever get another team after a 44 year absence!!

 

How does everyone else feel about this venue??

Thought it was a bit aged but it's better than anything the 9th can offer (size wise).

No pressure on them over there. They know they are gonna have it and just take it as it is. Henry never goes to the region and they expect that so why juice it up. They are no doubt second class of all the regions as far the host. They do a horrible job.

It's always been at Henry, so longtime 8th Region folks just take it for granted.

Sorry I am a basketball fan that thinks they do a crappy job at taking care of the teams. The locker rooms are so bad. The parking is worse. The host school could care less if they had it or not.

Seems like nothing is good enough for some people. I went up to watch a couple first round games at Ryle and felt their gym, while nice, is to small for such an event. I would love to see the 8th move it around from school to school but you then run into the same problem with seating. Maybe next year we can have some annoying intermission music to help bring the 8th up to par.

Do you boone county people have an excuse for everything... Let me guess, the long drive had something to do with it too. It's alright to lose and how are you going to fit all of those people in any other gym in the 8th region?? Guess what you will have to drive all the way back down there next year.

It won't matter how well the tourney is hosted or if you have twice the seating capacity of the next largest venue in the region (see comments regarding Mason County always hosting the 10th Region tourney elsewhere on this board).

 

You're lucky that Henry County hasn't had success in the 8th; there'd be folks claiming unfair homecourt advantage; that the refs are in the pocket of the home team, etc. etc. etc. ad nauseum.

You are more than welcome to go back to the 9th region where they clear the gym between games and you have to pay twice the same night.:irked: I think PA music is EXTREMELY annoying . I go to watch the games . I have never had any trouble with the parking at Henry Co. I should have known that some SK fan would complain about the facilities. Facilities that the 9th have nothing comparible . I have been in SK's qym, nothing to write home about. People in glass houses should not throw stones.

And shame on you for making light of the fact that Henry Co. has only made one Sweet 16 appearence.:mad:

I heard plenty of music. They are called pep bands, the only music that should ever be heard at a high school game.

I for one wish they hadn't left the 9th. I think you are getting your panties in a knot over nothing!! I also think that this has been the Scott, Oldham, and Shelby County invitational so long that is why I struck a nerve here!! I am sure that Scott or Oldham could host this tourney. Seating is never a problem with my my crew we come early and get the better seating. I also know that Scott county is no longer in this region but they do a first notch job hosting events!

 

I want you to honestly address this as well.......New Castle for a final destination??? I would not have a problem paying twice either .

 

The only reason I mention the 44 year absense of Henry Counties is this, I think if they were actually in the regional tournament they might liven up the place.
