I agree that the locker rooms are in need of a facelift. In talking to some coaches from Henry this weekend, Two of the locker rooms have been redone and are pretty nice. The "football" locker room is in shambles, and the 4th locker room is used for the P.E. classes. I know that Henry Co. isn't going to go out and redo their locker rooms for the 8th region tournament, but why can't the coaches of a sport want their locker room to look nice. The girls and boys b-ball locker rooms are apparently very nice, and I know that the coaches of each of those sports were the ones that made them look that way.

Yes , Gallatin ( notice the spelling;) made their only appearance in the Sweet 16 in 1959 under the direction of Coach Jock Sutherland . They were eliminated in 1st round by eventual champion North Marshall .:cry:

They were All "A " Classic State runner up in 1999 to University Heights. :thumb:

Sorry about the spelling.( I majored in P.E. at SK!) Didn't Jock coach Lafayette to a title in 79? I didn't know they went that far in the all A as well in 99. I bought a dog from the Parker family in the mid 90's, very nice people. I believe there sons played ball down there

Yes .Jock coached that Lafayette team. He also coached Harrison Co. to a region title in the 60's.

I know the Parker family .Very nice people.

I am pretty sure they won region in 1972 when current coach David Miller was a player.

Correct. '72 was their only region crown. Made it to a number of region finals, but usually stopped by Oldham Co. along the way. The Carroll-Oldham games in the '80s were fantastic.

Oldham and Shelby's gymn are just as old as Henry's.They are similar in size to Ryle and Holmes. Fans in the 8th kind of look upon going to the Region there as a tradition. When Grant won in 79 we played the last game on Tuesday night, Wednesday night and the finals were Thursday night. At the time we had the longest trip in the region and we packed the house every night. I simply do not think it is going to change because even the new gyms, Grant, South Oldham, North Oldham, Owen, Gallatin are being built to hold no more than 2,000 people. Grant's new gym is smaller than the old one. If you talk to the architects now drawing schools, gyms are being downsized because attendance is less. ESPN has two or three games per night and unless a basketball fan has an extraordinary interest in a particular player or team he/she comes home from work, plops down on couch and watches the game. It is simply easier than getting dressed and driving wherever to watch a high school game. Personally, I would rather watch high school ball and I played college ball. The extraordinary athletes have taken some of the "purity" of motion offenses, backscreens, blocking out etc. out of the college game. Dont get me wrong, I still watch ESPN when I am not at the local high school.

As for Henry going to the region, there chore just got a little easier by being placed in the 31st with Owen, Gallatin and Carroll. They were the third seed this year. They are much improved.
