What I am getting out of the Shelby and Oldham people is they like things status quo. I also know that because of the realigment and having to play in a seeded district we lost three quality games this past season. Highlands, Newcath, and Bishop Brossart.

Nothing wrong with rants. I get on lots of them. The defensiveness you are running into is the general perception that NoKy thinks it is better than its neighbors to the immediate south. As someone who attended an 8th Region school but also lived several years in Covington, I can kind of see both sides of the coin. It's going to take a little time for the traditional 8th schools to get used to their new regionmates, and vice versa.

Personally I've only been in that neck of the woods twice, in HS we scrimmaged SC and last night for the region final. How big is SC's gym, If memory serves me correct it had two levels, probably about the size of Conner. Does OC have a nice sized gym? Like I stated before, I actually thought the setting was fair, anything is better than having to arrive 2 hours prior to the game to get a good seat, plenty of size down in New Castle. The place was a bit old and dank but I believe the rims were 10 feet in height, the FT line looked to be 15 feet from the bucket and the three point line wasn't crooked so it worked for me.

 

Don't for one moment think that us from up North believe we are too good for your region, believe me, we are glad to be in the 8th. We won't be going away anytime soon so we need to learn how to coexist. Maybe we can all meet before next year's region at the New Castle Applebees. lol

Honestly Jim, being from Southern Kenton County we were the butt of many jokes, we don't think we're too good for the 8th, it's a new challenge, and usually anything new takes time to get used to.

Good but sad to hear from the 8th .......... This was a problem in eastern ky for years and years before the expo ...... I went to Northern KY and could not find a steak house. ???...

I gotcha now!!:thumb: !! I too don't think that we are too good for our 8th region couterparts. Simon Kenton is in the southern part of Kenton County. There are three primary public High Schools Scott High School, Dixie Heights, and Simon Kenton. Kenton County policy is the three schools must play each other twice. Sk also plays in a seeded District they have to play Walton, Williamstown, and Grant county twice. That is a total of 10 games that are mandatory. Simon kenton has been in the 9th region forever. I hope they keep playing Boone County, CovCath, Conner, Ryle, Holmes, and Highlands and Newcath. That is 17 games I think they will probably play two tournaments next season, They Toyota classic and probably in th 5th 3rd. That doesn't leave a lot of getting to know our 8th region cohorts. I think they will get a home game against Oldham next year.

 

So when I say that I wish that SK was still in the 9th I was misstating what I meant. I hope they keep the games they have traditionally had with the 9th region schools.

 

On a lighter note what do you all thinks Coach Hicks is saying about the new realignment??

 

I can get used to Henry County. I just hope they break out the pinto beans and corn bread next year instead of the Bar-b-que. There is plenty of room to break wind in that building!! :thumb:

What do you mean you couldn't find a steak house? Were you looking for a Bonanza? None of those left in NKY, but we do have a place to get a steak at nearly all if not every exit in NKY. We have 22 Outbacks, 13 Lone Stars, 6 Texas Roadhouse, and an Applebees every 1,000 yards. :jump:

I made my my first comment on the basis that of the eight teams in the tourney--sk brought the least amount of people. To be so "good" they don't have a very good following.

 

Not sure of your defination of "good", but by eighth region standards, SK was very "good".

 

If you think SK brought the fewest people, you count as well as you evaluate talent. :ylsuper: Shelby had the best following, and SK matched or bettered every other team. Not even close to the worst following.
