If your a NFL GM who would you take between those two?

I know everyone is crushing Winston right now and most will lean towards Johnny Football.

But when everything dies down...who makes the better NFL QB short term or long term?

As I said in the other thread, I would take Winston 100x out of a 100 and it wouldn't take me a nanosecond of thought.

Not close, in my opinion.

Based on a particular set of skills, size, athleticism, performance?

Not disagreeing just wondering why so strong towards Winstons.

Easily Winston for me as well and I really like Johnny Football and want to see him succeed.

I just think Winston is a better QB with a better skill set. Plus he doesn't run as much as Johnny Football so he won't have to take those shots that running QBs seem to take if they don't slide fast enough. Winston has never lost and he has shown a remarkable ability to not let distractions distract him. The man has ice water in his veins.

On the physical side of things definitely Winston. People are drawing the parallels for their off the field actions, but Manziel does not hold a candle to Winston in that respect. Dude was involved in a rape scandal. So in that sense I would want Johnny. Plus I do not think Winston is firing on all cylinders and much more narcissistic than an organization cares for.

So does everyone think Winston will have the better NFL Career then? This could be a good thread to archive and revisit in 3 or 4 years, if either is still in the league.

If the choice is just one or the other then I'm taking Winston for sure. As a GM, I don't think I would touch either one.

If I am Tampa Bay, Arizona, Houston, Buffalo, New York Jets, maybe even Washington and St. Louis to name a few I have to give Winston a serious look and bring him in for some FBI-style interrogations and make a decision. He's a true talent. He's an idiot for sure but he's a very talented idiot.

If he can manage to stay on the field I think he does. I don't feel like his talent will keep him off the field. His stupidity will be a challenge. Daily.

I would wager a few ducats that Winston is in the league at least 4 years, with a LOT of career starts. I'd venture the same dough that Manziel isn't in the league 4 years.

To me they aren't even in the same breath, except for being similarly moronic off the field. Winston is much more physically built and prepared for the NFL game, and I think he is miles ahead of Manziel in the pocket. I don't think Manziel is even average from the pocket, and I don't think he'll survive if he tries to operate outside of it.

The only thing going for Manziel is that he hasn't been forced to pilot an offense his first season in the league. That might give him a chance to adjust to the NFL and find a niche. I don't know how much Winston's off-field trouble will affect his draft position, but I assume there's a good chance he could be thrust into an opening day starter job as a rookie on a bad team. That's a tough burden.

Jameis as a football player is a player that I would put in charge of a franchise. Jameis as a non-football player is the complete opposite. I think if the guy would stay clean, he has every trait you want in a football player. I think he would be a top 10 QB in the league. Will be very interesting to follow his career.

I don't want either one of them. Winston just flat out does not get it. We cannot go three weeks without some issue with him...and some of them really reveal his character (sexual assault and stealing). I would want no part in giving him the keys of my franchise. QB is just too important to trust to him IMO.

I would not want Manziel because (1) I don't want the class clown running my team and (2) I just don't think his game translates that well to the NFL.
