October 9, 201412 yr All this talk of best food and stuff makes me ask. Where or who has the best Hot Browns I think the Galt House.
October 9, 201412 yr I've had several good ones, but never the original from the Brown Hotel. Mammy's in Bardstown makes a very good one. She cooks up several turkeys per day to account for the demand — she don't use that pre-packaged sandwich meat that a lot of places use.
October 9, 201412 yr I can attest to the awesome hot brown at the Brown Hotel in Louisville. Nothing like the original.

October 9, 201412 yr Ramseys in Lexington is good, the Gault House in Louisville as well. Those are the two best I have had, I've never had the original from the Brown Hotel though.
October 9, 201412 yr Man I had a really really good one fairly recently...and I'll be dipped if I can remember where it was. I plan on hitting Mammy's again in B-town real soon and might try theirs. Discovered it by accident a few weeks ago and enjoyed it.
October 9, 201412 yr Had them at the Brown and at DeSha's in Maysville. Both were very good. But I cannot abide hot tomatoes. Always have to order sans tomate.

October 9, 201412 yr The hot brown at The Brown Hotel is pretty great. So is the hot brown at The Greyound Tavern in Ft. Mitchell. I'd had the hot brown from The Greyhound first, and I just recently had the one from The Brown. Seemed very similar to me. Then I was informed by one of my brother-in-law's buddies (a current 4th year biology major at U of L who used to wait tables at The Greyhound and now waits at The Brown's English Grill) that he has been told that The Greyhound managed to get ahold of a former chef from the Brown Hotel about 20 years ago. May account for the similarities. If someone wants another good option for a hot brown, I'd strongly suggest the inside-out hot brown sandwich from Wallace Station in Versailles, KY. And if you don't get that, you HAVE to get the country ham & pimiento cheese grilled panini. Both are off the charts good, and under $10.

Or the fact that you can get the recipe for the Original Hot Brown right from The Brown Hotel's website.
