District play opens this week for the two Tiger teams. Beechwood comes into district play with great momentum. The BW Tigers have won 4 in a row over higher class opponents including a running clock win over the then #4 ranked team in 5A and a convincing win over their rival 4A #2 Covington Catholic. In those last four games Beechwood has outscored their opponents 177-33. Beechwood enters the game with a record of 4-2 and ranked #2 in the state in 1A.

 

The Bellevue Tigers also have been hot lately winning 4 of their last 5 and 3 in a row. Bellevue features a passing oriented offense that can rack up yardage quickly. First year QB Tate Grainger is throwing the ball well. This will present a different challenge than Beechwood has seen in any other opponent. Bellevue has a 4-3 record

 

Is Beechwood up to containing the explosive Bellevue passing game? This game is in position to possibly be a trap game for Beechwood. Is Beechwood going to have a let down after their big win over Covington Catholic? Or is Beechwood just too much for their top district rival Bellevue?

Bellevue is very underrated because of the district they play in......Having Beechwood in it. I firmly believe they are a really good 1A team that could be in the bottom portion of the state Top 10 or perhaps slightly outside it. They can beat many 1A teams. Unfortunately they have Beechwood in the district and Frankfort in the playoff match ups in the 2nd round normally.

I will reserve judgment on this year's Bellevue team till I see them play Beechwood. But I agree with uselessinfo that Bellevue's program is underrated. They have had some very good teams in the past 5-10 years that just couldn't get past Beechwood and/or Frankfort. Bellevue is certainly one of the top 15 1A programs in the state.

I will take the Tigers in this one, Bellevue is always a tough, physical team, and although I have not seen them play this year, I am sure this team is cut from the same cloth. I look for the first half to be close with Beechwood pulling ahead in the second half.

I don't agree with the 0 for Bellevue, but 56 is possible for Beechwood.

I think Bellevue's passing game will be somewhat effective but they may not score all that much because they are not going to be balanced. And depth is going to be a real big problem against Beechwood. Beechwood will run and throw it well and pull away.

Is Bellevue's Graigner as tough as Ackerson last year? If not, it won't even be close at any time. ackerson made things happen.
