October 7, 201412 yr All the well-wishes are much appreciated. We actually celebrated the blessed event on Saturday. Visited daughter (can't say "my avatar" on account of the fiendish shenanigans of one of my BGP brethren) in Louisville. Had a great lunch at Ramsi's and a great dinner at Havana Rumba. All topped off with a trip to watch the Heat/Pelicans (I was much surprised by Fredette) at the YUM Center. Got back to Maysville at about 1:30 in the morning. Papa was pooped.
October 7, 201412 yr 95 ??!!??. That's great. Keep on imparting your wisdom.....for many, many years to come. Here's a little nugget. If a two-digit number is transposed, the difference between the two numbers is divisible by 9.
October 7, 201412 yr Here's a little nugget. If a two-digit number is transposed, the difference between the two numbers is divisible by 9. I suck at math. :lol2:
October 7, 201412 yr Here's a little nugget. If a two-digit number is transposed, the difference between the two numbers is divisible by 9. OK... I'm trying to decipher the encryption here, but I might need some clarification first as my brain is swirling a bit. Let me take a stab at it if I'm understanding your clue properly, am I'm guessing that you mean evenly divisible by 9, and that my equation is properly executed in the way you were intending. 96 - 69 = 27 27 ÷ 9 = 3 You're 69? Which considering some of your musical posts makes more sense than 95. You say you grew up with the Byrds (8 Miles High). My Dad would be 95 too, and he grew up with Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey. He wasn't too keen on 60's music however once in a while he'd make an exception. So this means that you were actually 19, not 15 when the Beatles came to America and maybe just missed involvement in college anti-war demonstrations by a hair, or just close enough to be in the thick of things depending on how you leaned.
October 7, 201412 yr Happy Belated Birthday mcpapa. Sorry I missed it yesterday. I hope you had a great one.
October 7, 201412 yr You're on the right track. Take a look at the thread title. Duh...how did I miss that? 95 - 59 = 36 36 ÷ 9 = 4 You're 59? You were 9 when the Beatles first arrived. You graduated from high school in 1973, and just missed the draft by a hair?

You graduated from high school in 1973, and just missed the draft by a hair? Correct. 59 it is. I was 8 when the Beatles arrived in the US (it was in February). I graduated high school in 1973. Went to Morehead in the fall. My sister (since deceased) was admitted to a mental hospital for the second time during my freshman year of college. I told my parents that I would join the service if it was needed to help with family finances, but they said it was not necessary. And I learned very early in my career that when reconciling a long column of figures; a difference evenly divisible by 9 was pretty much always a transposition.

I never knew this, but through numerous trial samples, this is true. Fun with numbers... I'm diggin' it.

October 7, 201412 yr I ain't buying it. I could produce a birth certificate, but I risk damaging the papyrus.
