I am not sure I understand the question of beast mode versus underdog? Whatever the difference is, it doesn't matter in my opinion. This is a rivalry game that Beechwood wants to win perhaps more than any other on the schedule. They will be intense all week preparing and will enter the game going all out to win. They will believe they can win the game. The rest is just semantics and not important.

Besides the obvious rivalry, Beechwood likes having this game on the schedule because this game will show the coaches where the team is good and where they need to improve. You have to play this game at the same level you would play versus Frankfort, Mayfield and any other top 1A contender or you don't learn and get better.

The CovCath depth is what will wear Beechwood down. I think the Tigers can hang for a half but will get worn down by the platooning. Has Beechwood beaten CCH since they started platooning?

There's a couple of ways to look at that.. If CC strickly platoons, then chances are some of there better defensive players are strickly playing offense and some of there better offensive players are strickly playing defense.. Platooning serves a great purpose, gets more kids involved, etc, but, every team always has 4-5 standout athletes that would be some of the best 11 on both sides of the ball, so, if they're only going one way, then that usually means the ones playing aren't quite as good.

A team like Beechwood may not platoon, but, they have enough depth in the trenches that they can rotate the starters along with a couple of backups enough to keep them somewhat fresh, especuially on cool nights. It may make a bigger difference in september when its still 90-95 degrees at game time. Other than on the line, it's not that big of an issue anyway..

HAHA....Franklin County? All that game did was expose Franklin County. I was not totally surprised. Not a good example to me.

Didn't realize you were the judge and jury. Bottom line is nobody gave them a shot and they pounded them. I know you disagree, but neither of the last two Mayfield teams beats Cov Cath either. Think this is the worst Colonel team in a couple years, but those last two teams were good.

I don't thing BW can win this one, but they should approach it like any game.

Very valid point. That said, the weather Saturday will at least help. 52 and cloudy is better than 80 and sunny when kids are going both ways.

Snakesnot_2000 is to Beechwood as UK #1 Fan is to Highlands.

Ill informed, stir the pot, my team is the best, push your buttons, until they lay an egg and then you don't hear from them for a while.

Oh well, that is why we live in the great country we do!

No Class A school should go into a game against a Class AAAA school thinking they are going to "go in, reek havoc and walk out with a victory". That motivation comes in the 3rd/4th qtr. when they are up and the coach pushes/motivates them to finish the job!

Your motivation should be to use this game to get better for the playoff run. Telling your team that this game will get them better to win in November. This way, if you do get down early you can motivate your team for the future. If you happen to be up going into the second half or late in the game, you can help build their confidence by making a statement against a bigger opponent.

BTW snakesnot_2000. Look up Mt. Healthy, OH. Where did they finish in 2013? Where are they in 2014? 5-0! Where was BW going into the game?

I have always been known to be a friend of Beechwood☺️

They have no choice but to go "Beast Mode." The coaches couldn't get the kids to play differently if they wanted to. So its a matter of controlling that emotion as much as possible, but make sure its part of the game. IMO, Beechwood has never beaten Cov Cath purely with talent. Win or Lose, the emotion of the Rivalry has always been a big part of it for the Tigers. Take that away and the Tigers have no chance.

I believe every game on this year's schedule was/is winnable. Even after they were over, I thought they were winnable. IMO, this is the Tigers best chance of winning this game since they last did.

I back snake up on this. He gives Beechwood fans a good dose of honesty and his honest view may not be liked by some BW fans. But he has good perspective, is right more than he is wrong and definitely respects Beechwood.

Dixie? That was winnable?

If you don't go in as a Beast thinking its your football they are playing with then you might as well stay home. These are the games that make a 1A state champion. McCracken was no different for the Cards

I think they should approach the game from the south!
