California outlaws plastic bags

Featured Replies

Outlaw plastic bags...and only outlaws will have them. Only a good guy with a plastic bag can stop a bad guy with a plastic bag.

You can have my plastic bag when you pry it from my cold dead hands.

It's odd... When you go to a grocery store in the LA area and use the U-scan aisles, there are no bags there at all...

Plastic problem is more dangerous than Climate Change according this Youtube:

Actually I definitely agree with this.

Looking for the research that shows that plastic creates problems when it is it broken down to smallest elements. I remember reading that that situation was actually creating a real problem at the lowest levels of the food chain in the oceans.

I guess people in CA will no longer get the joy of amputating their own fingers in efforts to avoid making an additional trip.

Correct. That's because plastic photodegrades rather than biodegrading. It breaks back down to its original composition-matter, most of which is toxic. They say that, on average, every square mile of ocean on earth has about 46,000 pieces of plastic floating in it. Some of it is below surface, and some is smaller than can be seen by the naked eye...but it's there. They estimate that just between sea turtles and sea mammals, there are probably some 100,000 sea-dwelling animals killed each year by sea debris. There's literally no telling what it does to the fish population in terms of mortality and disease.

We recycle them every day , twice actually , my dogs am and pm poop walk .

Ever tried using the biodegradable bags you can get from the pet shop? They're not very expensive online.

Ill check on them , I'm all for what's truly best for the environment

I have no problem with this. I do most of my grocery shopping at BJs, and I don't use any bags or boxes. Shelf to cart to checkout to cart to trunk.

I have those reusable cloth shopping bags for any other shopping.

Plastic bags..................so that means Nancy Pelosi will be excommunicated from California I presume.
