I don't know that he tinkled any, he may have, lol. He did say he wanted to cry when he walked into the only spot he didn't have a shooting lane. Those limbs have been removed as of this afternoon. They have seen him 4 times, 70-100yds, this being the closest encounter. They put this stand up Friday knowing it was going to rain and wash their scent out. They are on him, but there is another stand about 50 yds from this stand that is on another farm. They are hoping to get him this week before muzzle loader this coming weekend.

My son, this morning, 8:30, 35 yards. Took this pic from the video, and enlarged it. No shot, stand on other side of the tree. I know it's not very clear, but I think you can see enough to know what kind of deer it is. He is sick!!!!!!!

Holy beer bottle mass on those antlers...cheers to your son harvesting this dandy and providing you with pics to share with us! :thumb:

I can tell you from farming experience, I can't imagine the sheer difficulty in eradicating the deer population with conventional firearms. The second year we owned our largest farm, we harvested 31 does. And we didn't remotely dent the population. We put 2 in the freezer, gave roughly 10 away, and that was when you could donate to hunters for the hungry without limit, which is where the rest went.

Not that I really care because I am a hunter but just curious what you did with the other 19 does you harvested?

Hunters for the hungry.

Just to be contrary... I so often have hunters tell me they hunt "for the meat", then why do they care about the size of the rack? Are they just full of deer dung?

I'll go 1st...... Me, I'm not a meat hunter, I'm a horn hunter. Believe it or not, the deer with big horns, come with meat too. No meat is ever wasted here. My boys take a few does every year just for meat. No one here has taken a buck in three years. We hunt wall hangers. When we fish, we fish for big ones, we keep a some little though.

Similar concept to why they get married, sort of.

Ok, I spit water out.

Fair enough!

I, do hunt for meat. I shoot at the first thing I see. If it has a rack I shoot, if it doesn't I shoot. I've killed 2 bucks (an 8 which I had hung since it was my first, and a 9 this year). But I do not go out looking for the big one. Would it be nice? absolutley, but I want food. I don't have a trail cam, nor do I use feeders. I go out blind, not knowing what is in the area. So yes, it is possible to just "hunt for the meat".

I'm assuming you mean you've killed two bucks ever, and not that you killed two bucks this year. Correct?

You have the right to remain silent...

I took it as his first ever was an 8 but he killed a 9 this year. Not necessarily in the same year.
