Third down conversions will tell the story in this game. X defense will have to make sure they get T off the field in third down situations, and the X offense cannot put their defense in bad situations by not converting on third downs.

Trinity on a four year run against St X has to be favored.

 

Both teams have stellar defenses, both have questions on offense that can lead to scoring draughts.

 

If Young has to leave the game and Trinity forced to go to a backup QB, then it could get ugly. If the ST X offense cannot sustain drives and leaves the ST X defense on the field too long, then like wise it could get ugly for ST X.

 

When you have two evenly matched teams such as these it's usually decided by turnovers, and turnovers are difficult to predict.

I hope they all stay healthy and play to the best of their abilities. I disagree these are two evenly matched teams. X has been shut out twice this season alone. The Rocks have not. Rocks have shown a greater ability to move the ball and score against good defenses. And how is the St X back up QB? If he goes out how much do they lose? Could it get ugly then also? Lets hope it comes down to how the players perform and not injuries.

I would have to agree with East Raider. While X has played only one out of state team it's not like X has played "Fairdale" every week. Of there six games so far, the only game that makes one scratch their head is the Fairdale game, other than that the competition has been pretty good. Bowling Green and Moeller are two top teams in their respective states.

 

Is Trinity's schedule "tougher" than St. X's overall, yes, but St. X is still competing against quality competition.

 

Just because a team has to play an out of state school does not make them better than every in-state school.

Central is way down, Ballard isn't very good, Bryan Station is fair at best in fact it could be argued that X lost to the only 2 quality teams they've faced so far.

It is what it is. St. X does not play the number of out of state teams Trinity does; just a difference in philosophy I guess.

Don't have an answer for that question. But I'm sure Trinity fans can correct me if I'm wrong, but Trinity started to play a regional/national schedule because many teams in Jefferson Co. would not play Trinity.

It is all changing next year. With the new District realignment Trinity will most likely only have 3 OOS opponents next year instead of the ridiculous 7 we had/have this year. I'm actually happy about it because I think it's a little too much of a grind on the kids, just my humble opinion, although I've had a blast watching all of these games for sure.

I think you are right. They won't schedule for any number of reasons, known only to them. I do believe that X has a better relationship with JCPS schools. I just don't see X ever going to a regional schedule. Simply not their style or philosophy. I heard Wolford speak and answer that question that we are a high school, and do not need to travel. Frankly I agree and am content with one or two out of state games and maybe a state game.

I think St X should atleast play some teams from TN. I think the reason Trinity has passed St X, is because they went out and played a national schedule. It got them on national tv, a national championship. They is how they are winning the battle for the kids in Lville. Kids want to play on tv, compete at a high level. Trinity is doing that by playing big time out of state schools.

X plays two teams from Cincinnati annually. Those being Cincy X and Moeller. As already mentioned X is content with generally 2-3 oos games a season. In 2012 they played 3, with the third being against Riverdale(TN) and 2013 they played 3 with the third being against Dutchfork(SC).

While Trinity's schedule is overall tougher let's not act like the OOS schools X is playing are cupcakes. Moeller is very good, Cincy X is probably as good as many of the teams Trinity has played OOS this season and BG is up there as well.

 

Now teams like Fairdale don't make any sense since they are out of district and not even close to a challenge for X. Traditionally in the last few years Central has been tough for the Tigers, as they would have been for most schools. I am wondering if Central's downturn has anything to do with Male's huge resurgence.

 

That said, when X has played good teams so far this year they have lost. So unless the Tiger offense has suddenly sputtered to life in unseen ways, I doubt X has the offensive firepower to win short of turnovers by the Rocks. Sadly the Rocks have been generous this season with the turnovers, so that may be the great equalizer.
