Edmonson County (undefeated reg season and region finalist in 2011)

LaRue County (due to see much better days than what they are going through now)

Adair County (jokers might go 8-2 at worst this year and have EVERYBODY back for 15 and 16)

 

 

So, you have the usual suspects all in the same class...heck...the same Semi-State, then those programs who have their runs (both low and high), but will be on the high ends for most of this new realignment.

East has Bell, Corbin, Breathitt, Lawrence, Pike Central and those guys.

Belfry may very well be the team to beat in 3A the next two years.

 

Bell County is going to be super strong the next two years. Corbin should be a Top 10 team as well.

 

Russell is taking a big step forward this year with a super young team and will definitely be a factor the next couple seasons. Lawrence County is heavily trending up as well. Pike Central may take a step back but will still have a team that you could compare to a Ft. Campbell.

 

Not the gauntlet the West is, but you may very well have 2 of the Top 5 teams the next couple years in the East and probably 4 more of the Top 15 teams.

East has Belfry.

Boyle was in the old 3A west as well. Often made a trip to Hopkinsville and/or Paducah. :thumb:

Had a discussion with Mason County coach Buchanan last night while watching the 8th graders.

 

In typical self-deprecating fashion, he allowed as how his Royals could very well be ranked higher. If only someone would hit him with a car while out running and put him out of commission.

Does this mean that Mayfield, Frankfort and Pikeville would all be #1 in 3a? Honestly, I don't doubt that Belfry is the best team in 3a, but, no way would I rank them there after an embarrassing loss. S.Warren would be my #1 at this time.. Belfry would be in the 3 to 5 range..

If Belfry is the best team then why wouldn't you rank them first? That's the whole point of the BGP rankings. We don't adhere to the old style of wins move up automatically and losses move down. The best is the best.

Playoff time will get real interesting in 3a. There will be teams rise up out of the ashes and surprise some people...?

Exactly, the best team gets the higher rank. Why would you not rank according who is the best team? That is why other rankings are not as good, they feel pressure to rank certain teams a certain way.
