BTW, RCC9's claim of "HALF" is probably WAY low.

I can tell you, people around the state are talking about Simon Kenton. I would have to guess they are in NKY as well, I just think many don't like to admit it.

 

I believe SK has won 15 consecutive regular season games and should be favored tonight.

Honest and unbiased, HHS wins by 3 tds. I believe that is no doubt last year. The teams that stayed close and made comebacks did it running the ball with elite athletes and speed. HHS IMO has been vulnerable to teams that can stuff it down their throat. The problem is, many have tried and failed because they end up adapting, running out of gas, or are one dimensional. And the teams that can do that have been the big schools like Elder. The reason I say they win by that much, is because no one stopped HHS on offense last year. They were a machine and I honestly don't think SK could have done any better. I know SK tallks about speed being their downfall. What I don't think many in NKY understand because they haven't seen HHS much because they don't play their team, is their teams speed. They may play teams that have kids faster than our fastest kid, but as a team, there aren't many faster. That really is a shocker for most teams. SK says "our lineman are huge". Well I've seen HHS at times line 185-198 pound kids over huge lineman from the bigs schools and the HHS lineman make them look silly because they are up and around them before the big boys get out of their stance. And if they do get caught, their technique is so good, they don't get blown off the ball like you would think a small lineman would. And they SWARM to the ball and they hit for a bunch of little guys.

 

As far as teams coming back on them, there were only two. That was Warren Central and Lex Cath. The WC game was the craziest game I've ever seen. They were a missed extra point from being on a running clock in the first half I think. HHS came out in the second half, let their guard down and WC gained a tremendous amount of confidence. When HHS brought the starters back in, the confidence level had already gone through the roof and they because hard to stop. HHS did score 71 points with their backup quarterback playing. Our starter didn't even start that game. So yes they came back and make it the best game i've ever seen, but there were some factors in the game too. WC cought fire on offense.

 

The other comeback we Lex Cath. HHS was smoking them in the first half and came out in the second half like they hadn't played football. Lex Cath still lost by two touchdowns.

 

HHS was very good and it was one of the biggest teams they ever had. They weren't easily pushed around, they were very fast and very good on offense. I really don't believe SK could have hung with them and that's as honest as I can be.

 

In my opinion, last year Collins was on a mission to get back to the Birds and redo the embarrassment that they got the year before. I truly believe that was a case of a team on an absolute mission that met a team that thought they were supposed to win. Collins took it to them and HHS continuously in the game. They had the right game plan with the right athletes in the right spots. But I can tell you all the way up to the last play, I never thought HHS was going to lose...and they did. Collins figured out a way to stay with them and battle. I truly think a lot of that was the burning desire for them to reach down and restore their name. When the Birds smacked them in the face, Collins smacked back. Period. I know SK wants to hang their hat on beating Collins in the first game and "Collins beat HHS in the finals, we are better than HHS." Here's what I'm not sure if all the SK fans know, after the game when the coach was interviewed, he mentioned the SK game. He said "We played SK in the first game of the season and it was a great learning experience for us. We were not a good team at that time. We used that game to make some tough decisions that we worked on all year and it has finally paid off." The coach admitted that they weren't a very good team at the beginning of that year and moving athletes around and having 3-4 of their studs play both ways (which didn't happen in the SK game) improved both sides of the ball tremendously. Not only did they play those studs, but they also used others on both sides in key situations, just not every down. This philosophy is something I think HHS can explore in the next two years as the depth is down.

There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance and it was around 7 to 10 points, certainly not 21. Steak is on RCC9 in 2015.

I may need it!!! But it really only means who gets to play at home in November. So it would sting, but it's not the end of the world. And I too hate Saturday games, so that would stink too!

WHAT TO EXPECT: Simon Kenton won its fifth straight last week by defeating Cooper 46-0. Ryle dropped a close one at home to Shelby County, 15-13. Last year the Pioneers rolled over the Raiders, 46-7.

 

It's hard to imagine a much different outcome this time around for these two teams. Ryle is in rebuilding mode under first-year head coach Mike Engler, and Simon Kenton is one of the most complete teams in Northern Kentucky and possibly the state. The Raiders' offense has found some recent success with its three-man rushing attack of senior quarterback Ryan Rytlewski, junior running back Colin England and junior back Mitchell Bateman, but it will be tough to continue that success against the Pioneers' vaunted defensive front that is giving up an average of just 59 rushing yards per game.

Ok guess what SK grad with kids in Fort Thomas Schools, is the SK program better you bet. Do I wish them well? Check. You are not on the same planet if you think that program can compete with HHS even in the recent past. Over the next few years absolutely. They are doing great things in Independence. Again you have a fan that stirs the crap and to be honest it would not happen in Fort Thomas as you have Sue Bird and the boys and Leatherneck and Henry and many other fans that would blow up your phone with PM's. Has anybody heard from Whackem?

That's your opinion and I have mine. I told you what I felt in all honesty. Just because you have a different opinion doesn't mean I'm wrong. Was there an "right" answer or just an answer you wanted to hear? I gave you an honest answer in my opinion. Without blue goggles on. I'm sorry you don't agree. I would project the score at around 42-21 in favor of HHS. I don't think that's really that far off. You could ask 100 people and you would get 100 different answers. Some may have SK beating them last year and others would have the score a lot worse than I had it. And I bet they wouldn't all be HHS people.

 

I'm not sure why you think that's so unreasonable anyway. Offense - HHS averaged 42ppg. That's taking out the Harrison and Holmes games. They scored above 60 5 times and 4 of those were in the 70's. They scored 27 against Elder (the best team on their schedule and you know SK didn't play anyone close to them) and completely flubbed two possessions in that game and were going in for the game winning score at the end of the game and ran out of time. And If I'm not mistaken, that was the game they lost their QB or stud RB for that game (I think) (What would have happened if SK played Elder and lost Kuntz last year?) Do you not think HHS could have put up 42 against SK? Conner and Camp Co put 35 on SK. Is it unreasonable that the Birds would put up 42?? Defense - As for what SK could do against HHS...Elder only scored 30 against on HHS and anytime SK played even a decent defense, they were kept around the 20 mark. (Collins, Dixie, Butler). And I can promise you HHS defense was better than those three. SK only averaged 39 points per game and thats keeping all of their schedule in. So I took out the two HHS blowouts and left all of the SK opponents in (including the bad teams) and HHS still averaged more PPG. And this is where the schedule comes into play. SK's schedule was no where near the Birds schedule last year. Your JH and PT examples don't work for last year's schedule. JH was 11-3. 2 of those losses were HHS and BG. That's a pretty good team last year. PT was 8-6. 5 of there 6 losses were to either HHS or the other 5 and 6A schools on their schedule. Not bad for a 3a school. Their schedule was probably tougher than SKs! So HHS played a much tougher schedule and stilll outscored them and SK didn't face a defense as good as HHS and when they did, they were around the 20-22 mark. So I really don't see why that projection is so far-fetched. Being as honest as I can be.

I don't think anyone is disputing that and I'm not saying you're wrong at all, but tell us why they aren't.
