BTW, did you look up the HHS - SC score from that year you lost bad to them in the playoffs? I'm telling you, it was a no contest that year they beat you by 40. No "my bad dog, I was wrong" or anything??

 

Since you keep bringing up HHS, I will say this. Because we really didn't play any NKY teams for a long time, I really don't think people understand what level HHS was on in recent years. I'm not tooting their horn and I'm not looking at this through blue goggles. I really think people lost touch of how good they really were. Nowadays, they hear HHS is down...the gap is closing. They are right! But all that means is they are not living in a different atmosphere in the next couple years like they have been. I am trying to say this without being the arrogant fan you think I am, but I really don't think people know because they either didn't see them play because their team didn't play them or they lost track of them because they never played in NKY. That changes starting next year. HHS comes back a little closer to reality. But anyone that thinks they are going to walk on them, even in the next couple years, is crazy. Just because HHS fans are letting it out that they may be down a little, keep in mind where the measuring stick for HHS football has been for several years.

I think it's pretty clear and isn't always measured by state championships. If Trinity, X, Scott County (over past couple seasons) was in lower state classes, not so sure if Highlands won as many state championships either. During the "beatdown" era that I previously commented on, teams like Bellevue and Dayton could play with the Pioneers and beat them. Things have changed.

 

They also have a lot more coming up through the program than previously, including more talent than what they had before. It's far beyond high school; the South Kenton youth program is strongly contributing.

Convincing? I didn't ask for that. I asked a SK fan to tell me why they thought so. Should be pretty easy if they are that much better than all those years. All the accomplishments they have racked up should tell the story, right? Think about this...are they better or playing an easier schedule now? I have now idea. OR could this be true...was 6A much stronger back then in NKY and now it's so weak they just float to the top? I'm not hounding them about that. I said no one disputes they are better, but other than their regular season record, thats all we have to go on right? Is that proof they are better or are other teams not as good? I am just asking. I have no idea. I think they have some really nice athletes and their regular season record is better than then, but how else would I know?

 

I know they had athletes back then. They used to smoke us in middle school stuff. They were huge and athletic. And once we got to high school...well you saw what happened. So are they better or are the other teams worse? Let's look at that. Boone is a low as they have ever been in history. They used to be a powerhouse. Ryle had it's time and now are not a good team. Dixie and Campbell are just now rising from the ashes of being terrible. So, did SK just improve faster than all of them, put some lower division teams on their schedule, go undefeated, rack up a bunch of stats and all of a sudden they are way better than they used to be when they were playing the GOOD NKY 6A schools, HHS Cov Cath and some Lex Schools (who btw, were very good back then). Put those caliber of teams back on their schedule again and we may see a 6-4 SK team that is the same ole team. Maybe not the same team, because I do think they have more athletes than they had, but still a team that not going into the playoffs 10-0.

You lost to Butler last year and a decent Scott Co (that HHS beat badly) the year before that. Remember, Scott Co was and up and coming team two years ago. They weren't considered anywhere near T and X until last year, when T and X were down.

Man, you need a better research person! We have never played Bracken!!! And one huge difference...the KHSAA forces us to play the other 3. Is the KHSAA forcing you to play your out of district schedule. You should talk to them about that! They are holding you back!

Why is that? You don't think HHS was on another level, compared to NKY teams, over the last 6-7 years? In most of those years, Cov Cath was probably the clear second best team in NKY and they couldn't make a dent...sorry Cov Cath fans. So am I being a homer or speaking the truth? It's not bad, over those same years, there weren't many teams in the state that could play with them. The only ones were the big 2 or 3 in the Louisville and BG area.

They have a few times; not so long ago. And to answer your question more, I keep seeing posts about STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS.

 

And to let you know, I'm not a Simon Kenton fan. I watch a lot of football on both sides of the river and I comment on what I see.

Coach McKee has done a great job with the Cardinals. Trinity and X may have both been down last year, but I believe Scott County is around to stay for some time. It will be interesting to see how the program shakes out after the new high school is built.
