September 18, 201411 yr Nope, not buying it. We have D1 players every year. Just in previous years UK hasn't looked for, or sought out the D1 players. But, it looks like Stoops is fixing that wrong. They sought them out they just chose to go elsewhere. They went after Lamar Dawson pretty hard.
September 18, 201411 yr Harris said that UK and OSU were not his leaders at this point in time during an interview yesterday. Many of us are expecting one of those two to be the choice so he could be playing games with us. Alabama, Texas AM and Oregon (I believe) are in the top 5.

Whoever gets him will get an outstanding young man.
September 19, 201411 yr Jeff Brohm at WKU is also recruiting Kentucky but with more players signed/committed. Maybe this will be a referendum on the quality and expanse of Ky. high school football. Exactly, and Petrino before him. And, Petrino at UL episode 1.
September 19, 201411 yr They sought them out they just chose to go elsewhere. They went after Lamar Dawson pretty hard. Negative gostrider, they sought some of them, not all of them. UK should seek out everyone D1 player in state. Sure Kentucky doesn't produce a lot of D1 talent, but that's more of reason they seek all D1 player from Kentucky. But, it looks like Stoops is doing that, and good for him. That's all I've ever asked.
September 19, 201411 yr Help me out, which D1 players did UK ignore? I'm not doing the work for you, but this is my soapbox and I've been on it for years. And, hopefully Stoops will be the guy that gets me off of it.

September 19, 201411 yr Negative gostrider, they sought some of them, not all of them. UK should seek out everyone D1 player in state. . Why? UK fans should want them to go find the best players they can. If it's from northeast Ohio or northwest Florida or northern KY ....
September 19, 201411 yr Why? UK fans should want them to go find the best players they can. If it's from northeast Ohio or northwest Florida or northern KY .... Don't start with Ram, I debated this topic with him months ago. He thinks all D1 talent is equal.
September 19, 201411 yr Don't start with Ram, I debated this topic with him months ago. He thinks all D1 talent is equal. Here we go: No, I think all D1 talent that beats your D1 talent is better then your D1 talent. We went thought this, Petrino and Louisville was beating UK with Kentucky D1 talent. Petrino and WKU was beating UK with Kentucky D1 talent. If Kentucky D1 talent is beating UK, then UK could have used that Kentucky D1 talent. And, no WKU does not play in the SEC, but if they did, they would have won more SEC games the last two years then UK did.

I thought Petrino was known for picking up a few KY kids here and there but the boat load from the South, especially Florida.

If WKU and UK had flipped flopped and WKU was in the SEC instead of UK the last two years. Then WKU would have had the exact amount of SEC wins as UK. WKU beating UK does not show that those WKU players should have been at UK instead, it just shows how bad the recruiting and coaching was at UK. When the state produces very talented D1 players like they have lately, it is very important for UK to get them. It is not very important to get just any D1 player. It's like the whole crazy argument people used before Coach Cal got to UK for basketball, when people acted like getting more KY boys would make things better. Its great to get those players when our state does produce top D1 talent, but not just any and every D1 player because a lot of them are usually borderline D1 players. With that said I would have loved to have seen UK go after that WR that played for Bowling Green the last few years.
