I might be misreading what you said. But 06 was the last time the cch varsity has beaten highlands. The cch freshman lost a close one that year. But cch JV beat highlands in 09 maybe 08 I am pretty sure.

There is a frosh DB that has been playing up. Can't remember his name.

 

Frosh QB Mayer might be up a well.

No Freshman are playing JV for CCH.

The DB is out with an injury and has not played any JV yet. Frosh QB has dressed varsity but not JV yet.

OK- I wasn't aware of that- someone last year was telling me the Frosh win was the first at any level since '06. I knew the JV game a couple years ago was a barn burner down to the last possession.

2 things that come to mind when reading this thread.

 

1. Why is it everytime a team like Highlands loses a JV or even a Freshman game then the program "Must be on the downside"?

 

2. Just because a team wins, does not always translate to how successful they will be once the kids reach Varsity level...just ask Ryle.

So after watching 1 HHS Frosh game and 1 HHS JV game I came to a conclusion that I probably need to just keep to myself. And no it's not exactly the talent level. There is talent.......I don't care what anybody says but for the 1st quarter and 1/2 I witnessed 2 very bad(fundamental) football teams last night.

 

Now without exposing 1 in particular HHS DB that I won't name, CCH may not even score. Okay yes they would score. Heck, I could of threw some of the balls thrown last night to Angel and he would of made me look good. If there are 2 better WR's on CCH's Varsity team better than Angel then look out. If Angel played under me, he would be one of my top 2. You can bet on that....He wouldn't sniff the JV level! Both teams need major improvements moving forward......

Wait, before I get accused of not telling it like it is by some old little league coach, I don't see it. I see kids that are the "part". They have what "it" takes. Now, does that translate to the Varsity level, I don't know and neither does anyone else. Freshman team is under new direction and leadership and I have no idea how they are running that team this year. I was at the CC game and liked what I saw. Very fast and some very nice athletic kids, but "may" lack some size. Then again, since when has HHS ever been big at this level.

 

The JV, again has some very nice players that look the part and have the "it" factor. They will be fine. I'm sure tonight was a heart breaker, because no one wants to lose to their rival, but that happens. And CCH is arguably going through their greatest years in some time. At least that is what has been said on here the past two seasons.

 

I'm sure the Birds will be fine. I trust in the coaches over in Ft Thomas and always will. There is a reason why they have 22 State Championships! Wait, there are a 100 reasons!

Man I miss Ted from Villa Hills and his pertinent and insightful comments in a Highlands/CCHS thread.

I think the tide is turning a bit. I don't think it will be as lopsided as it has been going the other way with CCH but I do believe that CCH will win more than they will lose against HHS the next 3 to 4 years. I am a Birds fan and that is just my opinion. The dominance cant last forever and I see a lot more good close games with CCH winning more than they lose.
